I am a US citizen trying to figure out the process to file for a K-1 visa for a woman I love. Still trying to get everything ready.

    We started talking on 10/11/2020.
We had out first meeting on 1/15/2021.

  1. They gave her nothing when she left the interview. Her interview was in July 2024, an in August it went to “Refused”. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with the fraud department, and then sent in additional documents to show “proof of relationship” and in February it was changed to “Ready” Again. Then I had to send her to get her medical done again because it was over 6 months, and then they requested her passport which they got the last week of June. Then on 6/20/2024 it went to “Refused” again, and then on 6/21/2024 it went to “Return to NVC” and we have received no explanation. I work in Law Enforcement so I am trying to do this the right way, but it seems it would have been faster other ways as she has a family friend who is already in Colorado, and he left to enter back in January and was in Colorado by February. This is so disheartening.
  2. She was given nothing. The fraud department contacted me, as it was set to "refused" and then after going back and forth, and a 45 minute phone call, and sending everything they wanted, they changed it to "Ready" in February, and she had to have another medical exam and was instructed to send in her passport. Then on Thursday it went from "Ready" to "Refused" then on Friday went to "Return to NVC" and we have heard nothing since then.
  3. She basically has been denied at this point because it has been "Returned to NVC" so there isn't much hope. And as for her passport, this is what has me so confused is that they got her passport, THEN changed it from "Ready" to "Returned to NVC". So this is so stressful.
  4. Update: So, they have not responded yet, but it is the weekend. My Fiancé reminded me that they not only have her passport, but are also in possession of her birth certificate and other documents. How will we get these back as she needs them?
  5. I emailed them yesterday when it showed "refused" again, and am reaching out to my Senators as well. I work in Law Enforcement, so I want to do this the right way, but her friends husband set out in January to come here illegally and he has been in the USA since February. I am tempted to just email the embassy each hour I am awake until I get a response. Also, WHY would they have us send her passport in, only to then refuse/deny her? That makes no sense at all.... And now they are in possession of her passport, and she doesn't have it and they aren't saying anything. This is not cool at all..... Only reason I went with the K-1 was because it was faster to bring her here as she has been robbed a few times in Colombia. and as someone that work in Law Enforcement I feel like ####### that I can't have here her and protect her.
  6. Believe it or not I already have done this, just to get to this stage I am at now. This is the second "Refused" I have gotten. And now they have her passport, in their possession, and no communication. Does anyone know a good lawyer I can talk to about this? I am so scared for her.
  7. For the love of God, someone, PLEASE HELP!!!! Update: So up until yesterday the site kept saying "READY" so all looked good, now the site is saying "Refused" AGAIN!!!!!!!! And what makes it worse, is the Embassy is in possession of her passport, and she is not from Colombia, she is Venezuelan. So she is in a foreign country, with NO passport, because the US government has it, and they have "Refused" her again, and have told neither of us ANYTHING....... I am so scared right now because she doesn't have this form of ID and if they stop her they could deport her!!!! So as my last post 6/17/24 still good to go, 6/20/24 "Refused" And they have her passport, and she doesn't have ID to be in the country she is in. How is this legal? I need help, we need help, please, someone, who can I turn to on this?
  8. Still waiting, there hasn't been a change in status, but it was last updated 6/17/2024. Still waiting, I wish there was a way that they communicated way better. Is there any time frame at all they have to follow? This is so frustrating....
  9. Thank you on the good luck part, trust me I need it, if it isn't one thing it is another. The online status still shows "Ready" and they received the her passport on 5/30/2024. Now I am not using the tracking number we put on the passport to show they are in possession, I am using an email sent to me on 5/30/2024 stating "The documents you delivered to the service center at BOGOTA ASC have been received and will be forwarded to the U.S. Consular Section for processing." So that is where I am. I know each visa is "unique" but I do wish there was a better way of knowing what was going on. I am assuming, which I hate to do, that because they wanted her passport sent to them that they are approving her, but not knowing how long they have to make a decision after they receive the passport makes it hard. We are both hoping it is soon, because her birthday is this month, and we would love to have her spend it here with me, as I am unable to fly down to her and spend it with her because of work. Maybe we need to sit down and try to push for a better system? Thanks for your understanding.
  10. OK, so none of what could go right really has in my visa journey so far for my Fiancé to bring her here. Took over 18 months to get the paperwork the the Embassy, then they initially "Refused" the visa and I had to deal with the fraud department, because someone sent in emails saying she was fraud (Thank you ex....), and I had to provide more information, and get a letter from my job showing that due to staffing I wasn't able to take time off to visit her, I work in law enforcement. We had to redo her medical paperwork because it took longer than 6 months to get that all straightened out, and now the last part was mailing in her Passport, which is what we have done. My question is, typically, and yes with my record so far I know mine won't be typical, but typically how long from when you mail in the passport do they send it back with the visa approval? The status on the website went from "Refused" to "Ready" so I am hopeful, and I keep checking it daily, but an idea of a time frame would be nice. I did get the email stating that they did receive the passport on May 30th, 2024. My initial start on this whole process was July of 2021, so it has been a very long and rough road. Just having an idea of how long they have to return the passport, or approve it would be nice to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you. And if this has been asked before I am sorry, I did try to search the forums some prior to posting and didn't see anything similar or that mentioned time frames after the passport was submitted after the interview, so if I missed it please forgive me.
