Hi all! Today I had my Citizenship interview and was lucky to get the same day Oath in Boston. Here’s my timeline:
- 08/15/23 - Filed online. Case was received and a receipt notice was sent + biometrics reused + your case is being actively reviewed
- 11/21/23 submitted I-751 notice and request for a combo interview in evidence section
- 1/22/24 your case is taking longer than expected
- 8/6/24 interview scheduled for 9/18/24
-8/7/27 interview canceled (likely when they realized I had my I-751 still pending)
-8/22/24 your case is being actively reviewed (around the same time my 10-year GC was approved with no interview)
- 8/31/24 interview scheduled for 10/8 (no update in case status, just interview notice uploaded in the doc section)
- 10/8/24 passed the interview. Same day Oath
4 updates on 10/8/24 after the interview:
Your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling.
We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review.
We scheduled you for an oath ceremony for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.
Certificate Of Naturalization Was Issued
My interview was at 9:30am and it started a little earlier. The interview was very quick and the officer didn’t ask for any documents other than passport, N-400 interview notice, and Green Card. I had a big folder with documents but none of that was asked. Officer was very nice and we had pleasant conversation and small talk - I was nervous going in but relaxed as the conversation went along. Passed the first 6 civics questions:
- What is one power that belongs to the states?
- What is the rule of law?
- Who did the US fight in WW2?
- Who vetoes bills?
- How many years do we choose the President for?
- In what month do we vote for President?

He told me there’s the same day Oath available at 10:15 which I agreed to take. Walked out a US Citizen. Registered to vote in person at City Hall the same day - they did not ask to see my Naturalization Certificate.
Wish luck to anyone else who might be still waiting!
