  1. I wanted to update on this, for the benefit of others that may find themselves in the same situation... I tried to log into my SSA Account a few days ago and was meet with a data match error on the log in screen. I had an option to either contact ID.me or the SSA. I know that my ID.me account was correctly showing my name, (they didn't want my middle), so called the SSA for assistance. Apparently there was a problem with my SSA record, not just online account and in their system it read as firstnamemiddlename, (no space). My SS Card did format correctly, which did indicate a problem only with the online account itself. The very nice agent, did say that this does happen from time to time and my SS Card should have shown as firstnamemiddlename. My record had incorrectly been sent to the IRS and other agencies, despite the physical card being ok. This may be one of the reasons why I couldn't open any bank accounts online and had to physically go into a branch. So to cut a rather long story short, after 24 hours, I logged in and could see that my first and middle name actually had a space! They had suppressed a replacement SS Card, as there was no need with it being correct. I did ultimately have to go to my local SSA Office, (next day appointment) but was meet with an equally capable and nice lady who resolved the issue there and then.
  2. Had the same issue, where the photo did not come out well and had to be retaken. Very simple process with GC arriving 10 days later. Check your receipt number online for updates post ASC appointment. Nothing at all to worry about.
  3. I set up a mySSA Account via ID.ME which worked out just fine. I’ve noticed that my first and middle name has no space though, this also shows on the printable statement that you can download from the account. My actual SS card, Green Card and all official USCIS and State ID has my name correct with a space, so it’s only on my account that there is an error. has anyone experienced this before? I’ve emailed the SSA, but there has been no reply. Maybe a phone call would be helpful, or is it ok to just leave? Thank you.
  4. I had a similar experience with my Florida ID Card. Eventually the DMV issued the state ID after well over an hour of discussion with the ‘back office’. It’s REAL ID, so at least the documentation is complete for when I go and eventually take my driving test. Need to get used to driving on the right with a steering wheel on the left! Not a priority for me right now though.
  5. After two months I got a letter from USCIS for an appointment at an Application Support Center. I had to have my photo taken again, that was all. About 10 days later my GC arrived. You will see updates if you also need fresh biometrics after you get the I-797 Notice and have attended the appointment. Check your IOE receipt for those updates. If you get no such notice after the 3 months, then I’d reach out directly.
  6. Just to update. The photo taken at the POE was not clear enough, so only a new photo was taken at the ASC. After a few days the status changed to approved with the GC arriving a few days after that. Super efficient at the ASC, was in done and out the door before my actual appointment time!
  7. Thanks... Thinking about it, I'm not sure if they had actually taken my fingers prints at the POE. Maybe they only rely on the U.S. Embassy for those.
  8. I've been in the U.S. for about two months now, and I still await my physical Green Card to be mailed to me, (all paid for in advance). I obtained my Immigrant Visa (IR1) in London and have the two stamps in my passport from CBP when I actually arrived into the U.S. at the Port of Entry I've now received a form I-797C Notice of Action for a biometrics, (Application Support Center - ASC) appointment. It askes that I bring the appointment letter, Applicant's Information Worksheet, (AIW), together with photo ID, (will take my British passport with I-551 stamps and Immigrant Visa). I'm not sure why I have this notice and would be grateful to anyone who may have experienced this, or anyone that may know the reason why. Thank you.
  9. I rescheduled a couple of times. There were appointments from a few days up to about 6 weeks out. Cancelled and rebooked on the appointment website, very easily…
  10. Very likely a class B medical result, as the SH was so long ago. As suggested, be 100% upfront, as the Dr will actually examine you for tell tell signs of SH. He/she will question you in depth, so have the documentation from your GP/Consultant with you. You’ll be fine though -)
  11. Wise is excellent for international money transfer. They do have borderless accounts in some countries.
  12. You must be lawfully present for Obama Care. As for subsidies, the household income must be over 100% of the poverty level. If you can’t prove this, there will be reduced or no APTC. We were quoted $1,900 a month without credit. Make over 100% and your premiums will be very low/none if you choice a silver plan.
  13. Although now in the U.S on an IR1 with SSN/card, I was unable to open an account online. They check your credit and as I have no history we went into the local branch to open. It was a straight forward process there on. Needed passport, showing I-551 stamps & SS card. You could possibly open as a NRA and convert when in the U.S.
  14. It was a very simple process. We went to the first officer together, then sent to secondary inspection. Less then 5 minutes later, was called up and asked for a mobile number. Passport handed back with two stamps, then left the airport seeing no one else.
  15. Thankfully all sorted out with Healthcare.gov. Spouse had to upload a job offer letter, which did the trick. Without this, we would still had coverage, but would have paid $1,900 a month, (no financial help).
