  1. If you were denied entry for suspected immigrant intent it will not impact your CR1 because that actually is an immigrant visa.
  2. Only the ones with questionable issues. Many, many people re-enter the US everu single day.
  3. You can post that here: https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/14-site-related-discussion-updates-ideas-etc/
  4. On social media platforms like Reddit for example, most people don’t even know what consular processing is. So many adjustment of status cases from B1/2’s… And comments like “make sure to wait 90 days before marrying or filing”. People actually think that this is the way to do it “because it’s legal to adjust status from a tourist visa”, but at the same time they’re smart enough to of course not mention anything when they present themselves at CBP.
  5. Good stuff! 👍🏻 I think AOS from non-immigrant visas should be vetted a lot more. Show evidence that you had a real reason (change in circumstances) that made you have to change your plans. Now there doesn’t seem to be any requirement to send in that type of evidence and I think that needs to change.
  6. It’s very uneventful. They will check your docs, ask you to confirm the US address, maybe ask/confirm if the immigrant fee (for the greencard) was paid and that’s about it.
  7. Yes, that is not helping. Not saying it will be impossible, but it won’t be easy. Is she Nigerian too?
  8. So you married on your first and only meeting? That’s very tricky, especially for this embassy. Any other red flags such as a large age gap?
  9. How did you get married then? Was that an online wedding? If yes and you haven’t met in person after the online wedding, you have to meet in person again in order for USCIS to acknowledge it for immigration purposes. Only 1 meeting in 4 years doesn’t look great either way.
  10. You haven’t answered any of the questions we asked. How did her immigrant interview go? Did she receive a piece of paper? Does the CEAC status say refused? We need more info from you.
  11. Being admitted to the US is always up to CBP’s discretion, so there’s not much you can do unfortunately. But being denied entry based on suspected immigrant intent is not a reason for an immigrant visa denial. Can you provide more info on the denial of her immigrant visa? And who petitioned for her? Did she have her immigrant visa interview and how did that go? Also, ‘refused’ doesn’t mean ‘denied’, it just means that it needs more review.
  12. If I was in your situation (and I actually have been in your situation!) I would choose not to do an adjustment of status. It always sounds like a great idea until you are in the situation where you can’t work or even leave the US for an emergency for example. I chose the consular processing route because I knew I would be absolutely miserable being stuck like that. Also, I had a stable job and life ‘back home’ and only left for a short visit, so changing that to just staying in the US unprepared, quitting my job without a proper notice, etc. was an absolute no for me. I am very happy that I made that decision because I was able to tie up loose ends and do it properly and was able to start a new job fairly soon after moving to the US. This helped me to integrate and build my own life in the US. I have zero regrets. Food for thought!
  13. Reading this already gave me anxiety! 🤣 I got married at our house, a friend married us and we only had my husband’s family as guests. It was -40 F outside, so that was easy in terms of keeping the food frozen until it was time to serve it 👍🏻 in hindsight I do regret that we didn’t have a second celebration with my family and friends in my home country, but maybe we can do that when we have our 10 year anniversary.
  14. I am in the same situation and never had issues. Always book your tickets under the name in your passport and make sure to also bring your marriage certificate when traveling as proof of your name change.
