My husband and I met in February 2016 when I was living in Japan. We got married in August 2018 and filed for the CR-1 visa in November 2018. Our I-130 took nearly a year to get approved at Nebraska Service Center. Our case was sent to NVC in December 2019. My husband came to visit for three months on an ESTA in January 2020 with the intention to leave in early April. The coronavirus exploded in mid-March, so his flight was canceled. Because of the uncertainty of the pandemic and the risk of contracting the virus by trying to get home, we decided to change our immigration process to Adjustment of Status. We filed for AOS in early April 2020, had the interview in March 2021, and his green card arrived shortly thereafter. Our visa journey took 2.5 years from start to finish and was full of unexpected challenges and sleepless nights, but in the end, we're together and that's all that matters! <3
