My fiance and I met 3 years ago while I was traveling on vacation in Hong Kong. One of my Aussie friends took me to the New Makati bar in the Wanchai (party) district. We walked into the main bar area, looked around, and spotted Cherie (Her right name is Clarita, but she doesn't like it.) standing under the television watching a soccer game (which she absolutely loves). My friend approached her first, but was politely "shot down". :( He proceeding to the Men's room and shortly after Cherie walked up to my and started chatting. That was it... we exchanged emails and within a month or two started using phone cards. Once in a while, we use the webcam as well.
Since that time (3 years ago), I have visited her... ummm... 1, 2... I think 4 or 5 times in Hong Kong.
This past December, we returned to her home town in the Northern Philippines (near Laoag City... Solsona). It was timed perfectly with Christmas, my birthday (the 26th), and New Year's. I took a ring with me and surprised her and her parents on my birthday. She cried a little, but shook her head "Yes". She was shocked, confused, shy, and speechless. We couldn't get her to talk for many minutes after that. ;)
Now it is June 2004 and we are preparing our 129F packet for submission to the VSC. Since I am, of course, new to this, I am looking forward to reading the information on this website. In the past, I have searched for such a site, but, for some reason, did not "hit" on this one.
I'm glad I found "you guys". I'm gonna need help to get this right the first time. ;)
