  1. I would contact the embassy to see if they can update you. They will most likely have you contact them via email (that's what happened to me). Side note: What documents did your mother miss at the time of the interview?
  2. Honestly, at this point, this feels like an IRS issue. Your mother may have to contact the IRS to see what she needs to do. Whether that will open a can of worms or not is unknown. Good luck!
  3. Which category does your mom fall under in the IRS threshold for filing: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/who-needs-to-file-a-tax-return if she married and filing separately or if she is married filing together and reached the threshold than you have another issue on your hand.
  4. "Verification of Non-filing Letter - states that the IRS has no record of a processed Form 1040-series tax return as of the date of the request. It doesn't indicate whether you are required to file a return for that year. This letter is available after June 15 for the current tax year or anytime for the prior three tax years using Get Transcript Online or Form 4506-T. Use Form 4506-T if you need a letter for older tax years." - sounds like your mom needs to request that proof from the IRS (https://www.irs.gov/individuals/transcript-types-and-ways-to-order-them). IRS makes it really easy to obtain information from them online. You can obtain that letter and generate an additional note with your mom's signature stating why you weren't required to file a tax return.
  5. Add your husband as a household member since you filed married joint taxes 2017. Fill out the required household member form, attach your joint taxes, and your Husband's 2022 W2. That is what I did, and it was approved.
  6. Hello, my wife filed for her mother. September 11, 2022. She was waiting now to continue the process.
