After applying for son US Passport, I got a letter, stated’’ The birth documents you submitted was recorded more than one year after the birth occurred. You may submit a DNA or Get early public records issues at or near the time of your child birth which shows your name and mothers name, such as hospital, medical, religion. My question have anyone had same issue before, My son was born in Nigeria, West Africa. It’s hard to go back to the hospital that he was born to get any record, if the hospital exist anymore. It’s been 12 years. Kindly Advise, Thank you.

Yes, that was what happened, I was surprised when they asked for a public record of his birth. The date of birth still says the same on the document. the stamp date was just different. I am thinking of getting an affidavit to defend the reasons. A certified affidavit from the court.

@ Timona , I think you did not understand my post. My son has a birth certificate. His first birth certificate got misplaced, we didn't realize that it was missing until I started filling for him to come to America. So we had to go to the local government where he got his initial birth certificate. So when they gave us the birth certificate. So on the birth certificate, it states the correct date of birth of my son, So there is nothing wrong with the date of birth. But the birth certificate was registered on the date they issued us another birth certificate. The registration date on the birth certificate was years ahead of his birth date. I am only asking for an opinion, not a teacher, you do not need to be rude, If you don't understand the post. Be polite in the way you respond to posts.

It is not about the date of birth on the certificate. It's about when the birth certificate was registered a year later after the birth of my son. There was no error on the birth certificate, what happened is the date of birth was correct, but the date we collected the birth certificate was years later. So they want a public record of the birth.
