  1. Will this be forgiven if they get married and file the needed forms?
  2. They realized that the J1 visa expire on August 8th. Does this mean they are out of status now?
  3. They realized that the foreign spouse-to-be has expired on August 8th. Does this mean they will not be able to adjust their status? or this will be considered as forgiven overstay due to marriage to US citizen?
  4. Hello everyone. I am asking this for a friend: US citizen met a person who is in the USA on a J1 visa. They have been dating for a while and thinking of getting married. This is the 3rd year the foreign person comes to the US on J1 visa. The J1 visa will expire in 2 weeks or so. They don't have home residency restrictions. If they decide to get married, is there a way for them to stay here without having to go back? Also, will their overstay be forgiven if they get married after their J1 visa expires? Thanks
  5. I am sure it is frustrating to go through this. Always keep in mind that each case is different. Overhearing other applicants being approved is not enough to assume anything. Their cases are different than yours. I remember when I went to my interview, my appointment was around 08:45 AM. I kept waiting in the waiting room till around 2 PM. Not sure why they made me wait while others were in and out before me. My visa was approved though so I didn't really care at the end of the day about the wait. Good luck
  6. A letter is better than nothing. During my I-751 I had similar situation but with a bank, and we got a letter from the bank and USCIS accepted it. Good luck.
  7. The applicant PD on his approved I-130 is August 3rd 2023. Below is paragraph B on VB for June 2024. Does this mean the fees should be paid now and submit the needed documents? Thanks
  8. The embassy won't do much. The main answer comes from the department of state.
  9. Not sure if this makes a difference, but what time zone are the USCIS servers at? You might have filed online right after midnight but the timezone could be different day still.
  10. The fact that the officer offered to withdraw the application is an indication that there is something wrong/missing/incomplete in the application or in the applicant status. As far as I know and from personal experience, officers don't just offer you to withdraw your application out of no where.
  11. I've seen a case similar to yours. Someone also from southern Lebanon who had a K1 filed and went for an interview. Their visa was approved after 11 months. I filed for my parents recently and they underwent AP for 20 days only. The embassy contacted them after 20 days and requested their passports and next day gave them back with visas. Good luck.
  12. I've seen fast cases. I filed I-130's and they were approved in about 4 months. Good luck.
  13. If you filled your I-130 properly and submitted all the required documents, there is a big chance that you will be getting an approval message soon.
