I have the same issue.

I came to the US on a K-1 visa. After I settled in, I applied asap for my SSN card, which I got under my maiden name, following the guides here in VJ. Then, before the 90 days, I got married to my petitioner. My marriage certificate has my maiden name because the marriage license had it, but after that, I applied for an update of my SSN card because we wanted to file joint taxes (foreseen the AOS process). In SSA (I went in person), for an update on my SSN card, I presented my marriage certificate with my maiden name, and I was asked if I wanted to change my name, I said yes, and my updated SSN card came under my married name. I applied to my Adjustment of Status (AOS) and Remove of Conditions (ROC) under my married name. When I filled out my electronic N-400, I was asked If I wanted a name change but didn't need it, so I marked no. During the N-400 interview, the USCIS officer asked me again If I wanted a name change, I said no again, In my experience, the married name doesn't need to appear on your marriage certificate, your spouse can have the name changed in the SSA and go from there. Hi everybody, On Friday (Oct 4) I went to the NC DMV with my Certificate of Naturalization and the updated SSN card to process my NC REAL ID card to vote in this election. (Note: You need to check in your State the documents the DMV asks for to process yours) Today Oct 15 (exactly 11 days after the paperwork was done there), I received the physical letter from NC DMV with my NC Real ID card, this document is my first official ID as an American citizen. Since we aren't planning to travel overseas this year, I decided to process my US Passport after the elections. I wish everybody an expedited process. Best Regards! Maritah.

Hi everybody, Since I requested my SSN card to be updated in my N-400, almost a week after my Oath Ceremony that was celebrated on September 27, I received the letter from the SSA with my SSN card updated in my physical mailbox on Thursday, October 3. On Friday (Oct 4) I went to the NC DMV with my Certificate of Naturalization and the updated SSN card to process my NC REAL ID card to vote in this election. (Note: You need to check in your State the documents the DMV asks for to process yours) I followed this path cause it was faster to get the Real ID card (it takes 10 working days) than the passport (it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get it according to the website) If everything goes well, I will receive my NC Real ID card next week, and after receiving it, I will process my US Passport. And about your question, here is my explanation: a) I entered the country under the K-1 Visa (Fiancée visa) and married my U.S. citizen petitioner within 90 days of arrival. b) After getting married, I applied for a Green Card (lawful permanent resident status) by filing Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Initially, the foreign spouse receives conditional permanent residence, valid for two years. (this is the conditional green card that I got) c) To remove the conditions, I filled out Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence (commonly known as ROC, which I didn't mention by mistake in my post), where I got a Green card for 10 years. The difference is that the AOS green card is a conditional one for 2 years, and the ROC green card is the one for 10 years, and both green cards are the ones that I gave to the officer today at my Oath ceremony. Hi everybody, My Oath ceremony was scheduled for today at 8.15 am in the Charlotte Field office, which didn't cancel it even under the stormy weather. The security at the entrance took 15 minutes and one USCIS officer asked me for the letter, my AOS Green card, my conditional green card, and my employment card. A second officer made me check and confirm that the information in the certificate of naturalization (Name, Last name, DOB, country of origin, etc) is correct because If it's not, they will fix it at no cost at that moment. My information was correct and the officer handed it to me. The ceremony started at 9 am, we were like 50 people in the little hall between applicants and guests, and it lasted almost an hour. The speaker was a friendly lady who made the Oath ceremony a moment to celebrate. We got information about registering to vote and a welcome package from USCIS with the flag. The ceremony was full of joy and even made us forget that we had to drive in bad weather and wait in line outside the building under the rain and wind. Thank God the journey is over for my husband and me, and this would not be possible without all the help we got from the Visajourney Community, thanks to all the people who helped us all the way. Hi everybody, Today I got my N-400 interview and passed with flying colors. The staff and the officer were pretty nice and friendly. The interview was fast and concise, with no complicated questions from the questionnaire and a simple written test. I had a casual conversation with the Officer about the state where my husband was born. I remember I was asked like 10 personal questions from my N-400 and we were done. There are no same-day oath ceremonies in the USCIS Charlotte Office, they will send me a letter with the date and hour. Good luck to everybody! Maritah.

I used it to inform USCIS that I traveled abroad because my mom had health issues and needed my assistance a month after starting my paperwork. (My trip lasted only 2 weeks).
