Can someone help me understand the fees for this entire process? In 2023 I paid $530 for the I130 petition. I received notice today that I need to pay more fees totaling $445 for the NVC processing. And I'm imagining now that there will be more fees once it reaches the consulate?

I filed the I-130 electronically. I received a notice last week that said my case estimated wait time is "12 months." Did you receive something similar? Was the end result accurate? For example, if yours said 12 months did you receive your visa within 12 months or was it a shorter or longer wait? Thanks for sharing!

Yes, I know the answer to this ridiculous question but I've determined to find people to tell me how obvious the answer is anyway. Filling out the petition for 130. Instructions say verbatim: "if your documents are in a foreign language, upload a full English translation and the translator's certification with each original document." I speak Spanish fluently but I'm not an "official" translator. I would like to translate the document and provide a signed document that says something like "I'm not an official translator but I speak and write Spanish fluently and have translated this document from Spanish to English." What do you think? It will work? or better to find an official translator?

thank you! We returned from Rio a few weeks ago and loved it. Literally the only thing we didn't do was sugar loaf which was directly in front of our hotel. We just kept saying we have the views from the top of our hotel and spent time doing other things but I imagine the top of sugar loaf is amazing.

With your experience in rio if you only had four days what would you do? What would your list of activities look like? We are simple so Christ the redeemer and the beach might be all we need but hoping to plan a perfect trip. Thanks for your help.
