Our appointement was April 10th at 1:40pm in Memphis. There was maybe 5-6 couples in the waiting room. We were called in at around 2:30pm. The interview itself lasted about 30minutes, only 5-10minutes of it was real talk, the rest was just him typing in stuff and looking at our evidence...I think he was kinda slow, that's all. The man was african american, he was very polite even if he didn't smile. His facial expressions were serious without being intimidating.

He first swore us in. Then asked for my ID and my husband's ID and US birth certificate. He asked me to verify my name, my mother and father's name, my date of birth. He examined very closely my husband's US birth certificate, till he realized it was real i guess.. Then he asked me if the passport i gave him is the same one i used to file originally, so i said NO. (i renewed it a few mths ago). Then he asked if i had a SSN and if i was working, so i said NO.

He then asked for the date of my last US entry (November 2005). I made a mistake and said 2006, so he corrected me. He then asked for where my original port of entry was and if i was inspected. He asked to see our marriage certificate copies. Then asked to see evidence of our relationship. So we gave him copies of everything with the important things highlighted, and told him we had the originals too if needed. We gave him: Joint tax returns of the last 2yrs since marrying, Both our signatures when we bought our house and me written down on the documents as HIS WIFE, documents stating im the beneficiary of his 401k, Joint bank account, newspaper bills that come to my name. I told him that we also had cards from friends, magazines, and pictures to show him if he wants, but he said he might look at it later. I asked him to give us back the picture of our home (the one that came with the documents when we bought our house), bcz it meant alot to me. So he said "I don't need all these documents, i can give them back to you, once i'm done writing down what you showed me." So I said "No, just keep everything, we made photocopies purposely so that you can keep them, i just wanted the picture".

Then he said "I'm going to ask either one of you while im looking at your evidence, how you first met" , so we told him in one sentence how. Then he said "Where was the ceremony held and who attended?" We just told him "at the courthouse", and we forgot to say that noone attended, but he didnt ask us again..

Then he asked me only 4questions in the "yes/no" list.. To which i obviously said NO.

He took off my I-94 that was in my passport (it was the one i got in November 2005 when i was entering the US from my visit to Canada). I thought he was going to approve us, so i told him, "Do you want my AP document as well?" To which he said, "no, the i-94 is good enough" .. I asked him if he wanted to see now our cards and pictures and he said "Okay, tell me a brief description of each picture, who's in it and all". So we got to maybe 20 pictures out of 150 and he said "thanks, that's enough".

I don't remember what the we said/he said after that, but he did say that "I would send your file to approval, EXCEPT for.....your medical is incomplete... The doctor didn't check off Positive/Negative for syphillis and he also didn't check off Pos/Neg for HIV." He then added that mistakes happen. We told him we were concerned about paying another fee and he said that all the doctor has to do is resubmit a sealed envelope, so he should not charge us again. He then added that if we can get the doctor to complete it today, we can bring the envelope in tomorrow and he will send it to approval. He then asked us if we're sure that that doctor is one of the ones approved by INS and we said that we called USCIS and they're the ones that told us to call him in the first place.. He also told us that they don't put stamps in passports bcz processing is so quick nowadays, 1-2wks. I wanted to know if he will approve us or not so i asked him a sneaky question...I said "So once i recieve my greencard, I can work and we can travel, and i will need my greencard AND my passport to travel with, right?" so he said YES...

Anyway, then he walked us out, we got back home, we called the doctor, we found out he only works on Saturday, so we'll go then and hopefully he'll be able to complete the medical forms again for us right then and there..

So that's our story so far...I hope everything goes well with the doctor, and i hope we really will be approved soon, without any problems of wrong name/sex blablabla on my greencard..

It feels great to "finally" be over with the interview part. I was feeling so sick to my stomach that day, i really thought i would have to run to the bathroom during the interview.. Before leaving the house, my husband made me eat cilantro saying that it apparantly helps relieve stress/nervousness. It kinda worked, but the funny thing is that when we got back home, he admitted that he made that up hoping it would help relax me :)

no grateful,

you do not have to do another medical, since you have already sent it done one and sent it out..

I had sent mine out as well when i filed for AOS, but the doctor just didn't check off the boxes he was supposed to, so the immigration officer at the interview asked us to go back to the doctor and ask him to REFILL out a new medical form and put it in a sealed envelope.

Don't worry grateful :)
