So my fiance went to frankfurt early this morning and had his medical at 730am, then went over to the embassy for his interview. He said everything went smoothly for him at first, to the point where he was thinking "this is it?" He gave them all the documents they asked for and he filled out the envelope they gave him, and he went to window 23 where there was a really sweet girl there that was just explaining everything to him that he would need to do when he got the documents back with his visa, when he got to the airport, when he got to the Port of Entry, which envelope not to open, she even gave him a "Welcome to America" booklet. She then told him all he needed to do was sit down and wait for the consular officer to call him up and sign the documents. When the officer called him up, he started asking the usual questions "where did you meet?" "when did you meet" "explain the situation to me", then he asked to see pictures of when we originally met in 2004. My fiance only had one of the two of us together, as when we met, we had no thoughts about any of this. He didn't ask for pictures of the most recent visit, and my fiance told me that he could see the file that I had sent with a big red APPROVED stamp on it, so the officer probably had already seen the pictures I had sent. The officer also wanted to see the early emails that we wrote back and forth to each other, which he gave him. and he also asked "when did you originally ask her to marry you?" to which my fiance replied about a year and a half ago. He then asked when we were going to get married and if we had a date set, which will be in december, but no date set. After all this, the man told him to not make any travel arrangements yet, as they would still need to do some more processing on the case and to expect something in a month or so.??? So I don't know what to think? I don't know if my fiance actually heard the word investigation used, but he said that that is what it seemed like he was saying, and that the man seemed suspicious? So here were my thoughts and questions....

Does this mean we are in AP/AR?? or something else?

Maybe it is because my fiance is from Cameroon Africa and not Germany?

Could it be that they are only waiting on the medical exam results since it was done the same morning?

They did keep his passport, so that is a good sign.

If I had been there, I think it would have been better.

I want to contact them and find out what's going on. Does anyone that went through Frankfurt know the best way to do this? Should I call? Email? Fax?

Has anyone had a similar experience there or know someone who has?

I just don't want to over react about it, but I also don't want to get my hopes up. Thanks for any advice and excuse the grammar. Thanks :help:

Did the CO keep your fiance's passport? It is usually a good sign if they did. Good luck

Sounds like a routine administrative review (name check). Unless something new comes up in the review, looks like a visa in a month or so.

The big red "Approved" he saw was probably the approval of the petition, not the visa.

Well I hope someone comes along who can advise you about contacting the Consulate in Frankfurt.

If I were you, I would stay right on top of this and contact the Consulate as soon as you find out the best method. I do agree that them keeping the passport is a good sign, but more information would be a whole lot better. Did they give him any papers?

Best wishes,

Maya

Many thanks to the Visajourney community for all the help!

so i emailed them this:

"To Whom it may concern:

My name is .... We are filing for a K-1 fiance visa (case# ......). My Fiance, had his interview yesterday morning (10.16.07). I would please like to know the status of our case? My fiance was told to expect a month for further processing? If there is any further documents or evidence required in the processing of his K-1 Visa, please let me know, and I will happily fax or email anything that is needed. Or, you can contact me directly if there are any questions. Below is all my contact information:"

And this is the response I got from them:

Dear Ms. .....:

Thank you for your email. As your fiancé informed you already, the administrative processing related to your case may take some more time. If we do need further documents related to your visa application, we will contact you or your fiancé.

It seems very positive that the embassy kept the passport. There could be a number if things, like paperwork, to complete and then they will issue the visa. Good luck
