I emailed the RCMP about the status of our application for the criminal record check. They finally emailed me back today.

We sent it on Aug. 19, they received it on Aug. 20th. BUT, it was not entered into their system until Sept 25!! WHY??? Why would they wait over a month to enter it?? That is crazy and I'm fuming about it! I just don't get it. Has anyone else had this happen? Is this normal?

Yes, I can believe this. Sorry to say they really don't have enough data entry operators working for the RCMP. I'm sure there is a backlog.

Sorry you have to wait.

Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time getting the RCMP check done.

I have had numerous complaints about the immigration process, but I am VERY thankful that the RCMP part (in B.C.) was the easiest and least painful part. Both my daughter (K-2) and myself (K-1) walked into our local RCMP detachment, and got our police certificates while we waited, all for $35.00 each.

Hope you hear something soon.

I believe from a previous post you had stated that you needed to get the fingerprinting done. The wait time for this kind of check with the fingerprinting seems to take a very long time.

I think all fingerprinting checks get sent to the same lab and they do all the checks for security clearance for government employment as well. I know that it took months and months for my secuity clearance for the government. If only it was like tv and CSI where the stick the fingerprints into a computer and within seconds it processes them.

Dont know if it will help, but maybe try calling them... apologize for sending it so late, explain where you are in the process, ask if theres anyway at all you could get a rush on it... anything that might speed it up a little...again dont know if it would work or not, but wouldnt hurt to try...

good luck!

When I had mine done, (I didn't need the fingerprints part, but thought everyone needed them, so I ended up sending it anyways,) they stated on their website that it takes upwards of 120 days to get the results back.

When they responded to my email inquiry, they responded calling me a "Mr." and even had my last name spelled wrong. I had to email them back and correct them on the spelling of my last name and my gender. That was why it took so long for mine, they had mispelled my name and decided I was a Mr. somewhere along the line. (You'd think the form I sent in would keep them from mispelling my last name or mixing up my gender since it has all that info on there, but oh well.)

Anyways, after all was said and done, it took about 3 1/2- 4 months for the results. I would definetely email and ask if there is anyway they could speed up the processing for your situation.

When I had mine done by the RCMP it listed the wait time as 2 to 4 months,as this last date was beyond the expiration of my NOA2 I called the consulate and advised them of the possible problem and was told by the consulte not to worry as the expiration date would be extended as they were told it could take up to 7 months by the RCMP to get the certificate, the consulate said I should have it by August, I recieved it in March 70 days after applying for it and 3 days after talking with the consulate. I was quite surprised to get it but also very happy that it didn't take as long as I was told. Be prepared for a surprise because I for one think the timelines given are for their benefit more often than not but there is the odd one that does take the entire amount of time they state and for those I have no clue as to why.

they screwed up on my fiancé's too. the dude at rcmp clearly checked the box for u.s. immigration, but after we sent it out, we got a notice in the mail saying they don't make you pay for canadian immigration or citzenship purposes. don't know how they screwed that up, considering he used his canadian passport for i.d. obviously, he's not applying for canadian citzenship. hope this doesn't screw things up. we called them to correct it, but they never called back--it's been almost 3 weeks. i'm guessing it will come back looking the same, no matter what it's for. at least, i hope so.
