Shouldn't my case be complete by now?

It's the impatient one, isn't it? I am not good when it comes to waiting for things lol! :)

But anyways, I've looked over some of the timelines on here and with no RFE's it takes at least 2 weeks or a little bit less for peoples' cases to be completed after that "NVC has received the checklist on..." message on the automated service.

NVC received our "checklist" (we were missing the DS-230) on 9/11 and no "Case Complete" message yet. Should I call them? I'm afraid of bugging them too much and fear that they could get too ticked off and push our case back "by accident".

Mononoke, what does your 8-ball say lol?

Well AT LEAST we are not the only ones then and you're going through the same thing too. But ENOUGH of enough, how long does it take to actually look at some papers?! I would love to be a fly on NVC's wall and see just exactly what they do there! :angry:

I haven't called since last week, maybe I should ring them up and see if something has changed? What if it has and the automated service hasn't? What do you think?

I'm sorry that you are going through the same thing. :(

Average waiting time for DS230 review by NVC, based from other VJ who previously submitted theirs, is about 10-14 days from the date of receipt. In my case, they received mine on the 14th, therefore I am giving them only until (between 24th-) the 27th of this week. Of course NVC will say whatever the automated message is saying: 6-8 weeks.

Hi MegDan,

I tried to lower my expectations and assume the worst (6 to 8 weeks). That way I don't expect too much and I fool myself into being more patient...ha!

Anyway, case complete messages can occur anytime so you can actually call every day!

Also there might be two stages of case complete...

1) "The NVC has completed your case on ...S-E-P-T-E-M-B-E-R....T-W-E-N-T-Y.... Give the NVC 6 to 8 weeks to send further info..."

and then...

2) "Your case has been forwarded to...P-L-A-N-E-T...M-A-R-S...on O-C-T-O-B-E-R..." Please contact the consulate for further questions..."

I would give about 7 days from that listed date before checking with the consulate to confirm they have received it.

You will also receive a letter from the NVC confirming the case complete a few weeks after the message.

Good Luck! I bet you'll get that damn message any day now LOL!

02/17/2007 - I-130 Express Mailed to VSC via USPS. (ETA 2/19/2007)

02/22/2007 - I-130 received by VSC.

06/12/2007 - NOA2 approval email received!!!

Hi Vylex! Yes I probably should allow myself those 6-8 weeks, but my patience level would still be low! I must call that automated service AT LEAST 10 times a day lol!

I have this feeling I'll get that message tomorrow because they DO have a routine of updating their system on Tuesdays soooo we shall see! Here's hoping! Thank you for the luck and your reply! :D

Okay, hopefully no one will throw something at me for asking a few ?'s about NVC. We just got approved with our NOA 2 (yay! finally!!) and now I understand it must go to NVC. How does one know when it has been sent? Just by calling the automated voice system until I hear that it's been received? Or does CRIS put some kind of notice or update on their website when it's sent out? I'm just not sure how to track it now. Sorry if these questions are "duh" ones but I couldn't find the answer by searching or on the guides.

Also, it seems like an inordinate amount of time you guys are stuck at NVC. Does filing an I-130 make the difference, instead of the I-129? I'm trying to follow the I-129 flowcharts and looks like it doesn't typically take that long...but maybe I'm not understanding it all yet.

Anyway, hoping this phase quickly comes to an end for you!! :thumbs:

May 4, 2007: Filed I 129-F at CSC

May 24, 2007: NOA 1

Sept. 20, 2007: APPROVAL NOA 2 !!! (Day 139)

Sept. 24, 2007: Hard copy NOA 2 received in mail

Oct. 25, 2007: Papers arrived at NVC

Oct. 29, 2007: Papers left NVC: enroute to Bucharest YAY!!

Nov. 2, 2007: Packet 3 mailed from embassy

Nov. 8, 2007: Packet 3 received, medical and interview scheduled by phone

Nov. 12, 2007: Medical appointment completed

Nov. 13, 2007: Interview in Bucharest: VISA APPROVED!!

I-130 is for spousal visa, while K1 used I-129F for fiance visa.

I am not sure how long it stays with NVC for K1 applicants, just by reading and going through K1 forums, it seems it only takes about 2-4 weeks then it gets transferred to your consulate. I suggest to call NVC 603 334 0700 option 1 then 5 regarding your case, as I am not sure what automated message you will get when they receive your case or when it gets transferred to the consulate.

I'm getting ready to send out the DS230 this week and I'm already impatient for my husband to get an interview. But, it's Montreal...who has been very slow in getting CR1/IR1 interviews and we're looking at least 6 months to wait for an interview.

So speed dial away everyone. The squeaky wheel gets oiled.

I-130: 03/26/2007-07/02/2007 at NSC

NVC: 07/20/2007-11/08/2007

Interview at Montreal Consulate: 01/18/2008

(2 months' additional security checks)

Received Green Card: 05/12/2008

Removal of Conditions

I-751: 2/25/10-

I bet you won't be able to hold until tomorrow. I personally will give them a shout out later on around 11PM EST. Wish me luck on that one last call for the day too! :pop:
