Hello,

My wife and I just recently got married last weekend. We want to try to get our papers done and start the AOS process now. The most confusing part for us is definitely the I-693 stuff. She had a medical exam before her interview in Hong Kong, but all she got to take home from that was an X-ray that she can't and hasn't opened. We didn't get any other forms from them.

Does this mean we need the full medical? Or do we just get the supplement. Her K-1 application interview was just a couple months ago. As I understand the directions, I think she only needs a supplement, but I just wanted to make sure.

Also, are there ANY other forms we need to bring to the doctor once we find one (the doctors are really far from us, making us take a weekend trip, so I really just want to make sure).

Thanks a lot in advance for any help, advice, or clarification you can give me. This part of the form's directions just really seem unclear to me :(, heh

You don't need another medical if it has been less than a year since you had the medical during the visa process. You will need to do a vaccination supplemental, I-693A. Make sure you shop around, the prices can vary and they might try to gough you for another medical. We paid $70 for the sealed for and Claudeth had to have a tetanus shot.

I wish the consulates required vaccinations for K-Visas, this would kill off the continuous repeat questions abot medical for AOS.

Search I-693A here on VJ, you will get your answer. http://www.visajourney.com/search/index.ph...p;sa=Search#986

You do not need to do a full medical PER the instructions included with form I-485, all you need the civil surgeon to do is the supplement.

The DS-3025 is the Vaccination Documentation Worksheet. After my medical, I was given the DS-3025 worksheet and my xray. I brought the DS-3025 to a US civil surgeon so he could transfer the information onto the I-693 vaccination supplement form. It is then placed in an envelope then sealed and signed by the CS.

Do you absolutely need a DS-3025? In Hong Kong my wife didn't get any vaccinations at her medical, and so there would have been nothing to write. She doesn't have any medical records either, aside from what USCIS got from the medical exam. All she was given was her xray.

K visa holders are not required to get the vaccinations done in their home country. Your wife will have to have them done here. I am not absolutely sure but I think it should also be done thru a USCIS Civil Surgeon. When I got here, my shots were not complete. I still needed a tetanus shot (DPT) since it was not available at the medical facility in my home country. So I got and paid for the Tetanus shot and the cost for transferring the vaccination info on the I-693 vaccination supplement...it was not a full medical.

DITTO

Each embassy should give K visa peeps information on what they have to do to adjust status.

I've probably posted this 50 times but here it is again!

FEDERAL REGISTER INTERIM REGULATIONS at USCIS website, I quote:

"C. Medical Examinations

According to 8 CFR 245.5, aliens seeking to adjust status are required to undergo a medical examination performed by a designated civil surgeon to determine whether they are inadmissible under section 212(a)(1)(A) of the Act. To date, applicants for K nonimmigrant visas have been required to obtain a medical examination abroad pursuant to Department of State regulations at 22 CFR 41.81 prior to entry, and the medical examination is not repeated if they apply for adjustment of status within 1 year of the date the examination was performed. They are, however, required to submit with the adjustment of status application a vaccination assessment completed by a designated civil surgeon in order to establish their compliance with the vaccination requirements under section 212(a)(1)(A)(ii) of the Act.

The Service will continue this same policy for the K-3/K-4 nonimmigrants. K-3/K-4 nonimmigrants who file their adjustment of status application within 1 year from the date of the medical examination overseas will not have to submit an additional medical examination. However, the Service notes that applicants whose medical examinations overseas revealed a “Class A” or “Class B” condition (as defined by 42 CFR 34.2( B ) ) must establish upon application for adjustment of status that they complied with those cond itions imposed on the initial admission. Failure to comply with those conditions means that a new medical examination will be required.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Correct, check with your county health department, some will do the vaccinations for FREE, you then take the record from the health department to a civil surgeon for transfer to a supplement.

The CS did ours for $35

Thanks for the help everyone so far. I've actually read the two paragraphs posted above and that's why I posted here - couldn't make sense of them.

If she were to go to the county health department for vaccinations first, would she get a DS-3025 at that point?

No, the DS-3025 is a Department of State form prepared by the foreign panel physician at the medical exam and is basically a transcription of the vaccination record supplied at that time (if any). If you get them done here you simply take the record you receive from whatever clininc you chose to the CS and he/she will transcribe....

YMMV

Ok, that makes sense, I've gotten one of those yellow records myself from a county health department office before.

How do I know what vaccinations she needs?
