like some of you who filed in vermont i received my bio letter (NOA2) recently but never received my one year extension letter (NOA1). when i entered my account number from the NOA2 into my USCIS case status online account this came up:

Application Type: CRI89, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On August 6, 2007, we received this CRI89 PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our VERMONT SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

since almost a month had passed, i assumed it was lost in the mail. i called the uscis "help" line and was told to wait 90 days. this is of course no help since the green card will have expired by then. but when i told them about the above entry to my online case, they changed their tune and said i should have already received it. when i said i didnt, they said they would issue me a duplicate. i didnt hold my breath, but was SHOCKED to find my NOA1 in yesterday's mail along with a cover letter stating that the enclosed was a duplicate. so we've got our 1 yr extension now!

i guess the bottom line is this:

if you have your NOA2, enter the account number into the online case status. (forget the number on your cancelled check, it's completely different.)

if you get a message like the one in bold, call them and tell them you didnt get your NOA1. you just may get lucky!

You will definitely want to have your extension NOA if you want to travel outside the U.S. or if your employer asks to see that you are still in legal status to continue working until you have your 10-yr GC.

I received both my NOA and Biometrics notices on the same day.

I guess it is worth mentioning that NOA1 for AOS and removing conditions are two documents with different purposes.

While NOA1 for AOS is a "simple" receipt notice, the NOA1 for removing conditions includes a one year extension of the greencard. Thus this NOA1 for I751 (removing conditions) filers is a very important document, as it is (after expiration of the greencard) the only thing that documents your legal stay in the USA - it is to be used for travel and work purposes.

NOA1 is not important so don't worry about it

actually it is very important because like has already been mentioned it extends your green card for one year...

ForYOu, what HELP number did you call??? I need my extention BADLY (got NOA2 only)

Before contacting the USCIS, we may be able to help you if you have a question about immigration procedures, or need clarification, by calling our National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283 (TTY 1-800-767-1833).

It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

thank you, LuckyStrike!

I called the first number in your post (customer service) but didnt talk to alive person (anybody remember what to press after what in their menu? as their options were not quite clear for me), as they kept saying that "our representatives dont have any additional info then indicated in your online status (I have the same as in the 1st post of this topic)

They recieved my application on July 30th (I sent to NEbraska, but its in CA now), then I got biometrics appointment which is september 18th. Green Card already expired. I have no american DL, just one from my native country.. was pulled over not long ago. So I really need to get american licence before the court date.

who knows... Can I ask my local office to give my 1y GC extention during taking biometrics??? sometimes they stamp your passport about this...

Does anybody know if they MUST send NOA1 extention letter BEFORE or along with biometrics letter? Coz many many people have NOA2 but not NOA1......

how long did it take to get it in mail since ou phone call?
