Hi All,

I'm writing on behalf of a friend and his wife who just had their interview in Guyana for a K-3 visa. It didn't clear yet and the case is now going to be placed in Administrative Review. My friend asked if Administrative Processing (AP) is the same as Administrave Review (AR)? I said that I was unsure. When my then fiance went to the embassy interview in Guyana on a K-1 visa he was given AP and they took his passport and said that it would be about 2 weeks, but instead it was 2 1/2 months with 2 visits by inspectors once to his home and a second to the neighbors. So my friend said that they took his wife's passport and that they said at the embassy that things look good and it will probably be a week. In both of our cases no additional documents were requested. So my friend is trying to figure out if it will be 1 week or 2 months!

thanks

cshell

AP and AR are basically the same thing, with review being when things are looked at a little closer.

To DOS they are one and the same.

AP/AR can be background checks, security checks, home investigation and document verification. They are either "processing " or

" reviewing " something.

There is no way to predict the length of time it will take. You may see a pattern emerge with any specific embassy but in the end

each case is unique.

Hi cshell,

My name is Mini , I'm from Guyana , I'm engaged to Robby (U.S Citizen) on 18th, March, 2006. My Fiance Robby filed for a K1 for me since last yr , my first interview was on the 25th,Oct ,2006 and i was issued a 221g due to the fact that he wasn't with me for the interview ( they never asked him to attend the interview otherwise he would if he knew ) anyways when my fiance email them for another interview date , they give us a date for 8th, June ,2007 which is 8 months after  .

On 8th ,June, 2007 , we both showed up for our joint interview at the Guyana Embassy , we were interviewed separately by a Guyanese CO and It was horrible and degrading , all the CO was interested in was our private life (SEX) , after our interview , the CO told us that our case will be on A/R ( 8th, Sept, 2007) will be 3 months since we went in for our interview at the Guyana Embassy , and we aint get any answer from them upto now concerning our case , everytime we call the enquires , they always tellin me the case is on A/R and they dont know how long it would take :o .

JEEZ I ONLY HOPE THIS WON"T TAKE FOREVER :crying:

NB: if there's anyone , who want to know more abt my exp at the Guyana Embassy , u can email me or IM me on (p_ramnauth4@hotmail.com /hotty18_2005@hotmail.com ) because I'm new to this site and i really don't know how to use it , so plz if there is anything u want to know , feel free to ask , maybe i can help u out .

AP/AR is a black hole of waiting. There is no way to say how long it will last. My husband was told by the CO after 2 months we will contact you to come back here. Well, it's been almost 3 months. I'm not surprised but he is. I knew it wouldn't be exactly 2 months. It all depends on what checks the CO wants run. Just be thankful it wasn't returned. Waiting is agony but having your petition returned would have been heartache. I wish all of us waiting in AP a speedy conclusion.
