SaPa's K1 experience ...

• Got to the US Con ~7am! Met Lance27 & Rajean )
  
• Security opened the gates and let all those in line ~7.45am -- thank God, no mean lady there!
  
• Severe checking at the doors. Be prepared to "undress" until they find the metal in your inner zipper!
  
• Sat in the famous basement until guard came to escort to the 19th floor. Yes there is a photo booth there incase you forgot your pics
  
• Guard came and headed us towards the elevator. Packed myself towards the back of the elevator (as the door opens from the back)
  
• Got on the 19th floor.. Keep in mind that you need to turn left on exiting the elevator, you need to get to the "Cashier" counter for a number.
  
• Also, keep in mind that if you are there for a K1 or a K3, when you come, you have priority over ALL other applicants/people in the line. So, be prepared to feel special and you can cut the line to move right to the front!! That's awesome!
  
• Waited in the waiting area (couldn't think of a better word?!) until my number was called. Ofcourse Rajean and I were busy talking then!
  
• My number called, went to counter 9
  
• Handed all docs to the couter woman (haha...):
  

DS-156 X 2 copies -- onces that you already submitted with P3. Make sure you have them ready

Original + copy of the birth certificate

Original + copy of the Police clearances

Sealed Medical envelope

XpressPost envelope -- can't stress enough on this. Make sure you get the size requested by US Cons. I saw 3 applicants sent out becuase they had the wrong sizes!!!! Also, enter your postal address!

All other items on P3 checklist (marriage certs, divorce certs, etc, etc.)

• Once I handed the woman all my docs, she handed me a cash deposit slip to take to the "Cashier" counter and pay my US$100. Yes, they need exact change. Someone was told to bring exact cash! Again you will enjoy the privilege of cutting to the front of the line! Awesome!!
  
• Made the payment and returned back to the counter 9. Take back the deposit slip and keep the receipt of your payment.
  
• Waited for ~15-20 minutes at counter 9
  
• Counter woman came back and I handed her the Deposit slip (receipt of payment)
  
• After that she took my finger prints. The machines here are not the best. Had to take / re-take .. I guess a lot of people have issues with this fingerprinting
  
• Anyhows, after that I was asked to go back to the waiting area and listen for my number on the PA/microphone!
  
• Waited for ~30 minutes. Ofcourse Rajean and I were busy talking again!
  
• Number was called to Interview Room #8
  
• The room is fairly small (4 feet X 4 feet). A well "seasoned" immigration officer was behind the bullet proof glass and he was very nice.
  
• My interview started as "So, I guess you will be getting married once you are there?" ... I was like "Huh?!" That was the one question he asked me... I consider that more of a conversation.... no other questions. He did not ask for any proofs, docs, receipts, NOTHING!
  
• Anyhows, he quickly scanned my file and was he was ok with everything.
  
• Handed my my original Birth Certificate and was told "Well, have a safe trip and enjoy your new life in the US with your Fiancee"....
  
• In my head I was waiting to hear "Congratulations, you are granted your visas"!
  
• ... and to my surprise he did say that in the next two seconds!!!
  
• I was like sooooooooooooo happy! [macarena dance]
  
• I headed out of the room and went to the waiting area to put all the docs in my binder including the original birth certificate that was returned to me.
  
• Ofcourse, once again Rajean and I were busy talking! I told him to be cool and not feel stressed (but who wouldn't?! Wished him luck and headed)
  
• I then headed down the elevators (only three buttons in there- G, Open door, Alarm)
  
• Called my fiancee from the phone from the basement!! There was one guy who was there who seemed to have been denied the visas! Felt sorry & sad for him!
  
• Headed back the hotel (that was a minute away from the US Cons), loaded my car with my stuff and headed to Toronto!
  

The whole drive back, only kept on thanking God, my Fiance, my family and the VJ'ers!

Here My Advice:

• Have all the docs ready (including 2 copies of each item). It's better to take more than what they ask and I mean take all evidences, etc.
  
• Be well organized
  
• No food, drinks, or bags-- please no bags!
  
• No electronics of any kind!
  
• If possible, make a trip the previous night and know where you are to go. The entrance to the US Cons is from the side street
  
• Stay COOL
  
• Smile and use the Yes Sir/Madam, Thank You, Good morning / afternoon. This stuff still works to date and gets a lot of work done, easily!

Congrats!! I see Sapa is just as fast at getting back to peoples questions, ie "Do I make the check in Can or Us fund" from Mephys, as the Mtl consulate!! So one might be better to stick with the regular route,lol Have a good day!

haha... i thought someone would say that!

sorry, i have been away from the VJ site for a few days now... back to the question of what funds? since, i am moving to the US in the next few weeks, I think US$ funds would make sense. However, with the exchange rate being almost at par, i would still take CAD$ funds! (for those of you who do not have US$ credit cards).

All in all, this is a pyramid scheme, and the more you donate, and get your friends to donate, the more will be pilling for you!

ps: this is not like the famous Microsoft scheme! This is the VJ scheme!
