How do I go about getting an expedited parole? On the infopass site it said that my local office (Detroit, MI) does not accept forms in person. Can I still make an infopass appt to get an expedited parole? If approved, will I get my parole the same day? I live in Canada, right on the US border and want to commute to my job in Canada while living in MI until I get my work authorization in the US.

Thanks!

Yes, you would need to make an infopass appointment. But it is up to them to do decide if they should expedite it.

It may be a long shot for you to get an "emergency" AP to cross the border for commuting. Even if you go through the normal procedure by way of filing the I-131, this is not what the AP is intended for.

Good Luck.

Hi LaL. The form actually has a statement in it that grants AP for "bona fide business reasons". The officer also mentioned it at my own InfoPass appointment.

Bill, that statement refers to regular forms in the day-to-day business of processing documents. For emergency requests, you do bring your forms with you. You will need to bring a contract letter from your employer to prove that they are holding a job for you.

Two items which may or may not be an issue:

1. Every office has nice and not-so-nice employees. Some are aware of all the rules and regulations, and some are not. Some are just plain grumpy. Whether they process your request or not lies entirely with them. You may end up having to visit another office on another day, or end up having to wait for your AP in the normal window of time.

2. The new Adjustment of Status forms now include Advance Parole. You will probably have to file this document, wait for the NOA, then take that with you to the InfoPass appointment to request the expedited AP. Perhaps by the time you are ready to file, someone will have already experienced this process and can advise you.

Good luck.

dont know if this will help but i just recieved my husbands AP in one month. thats a record for them. usually it takes 3 months to get.

in the packet i included a letter of why he needed the AP document. it just said he needed it in case of an emergency with his family that he could get back to syria and then enter back into the united states.

dont know if thats why it got here sooner or what. but i do know i was shocked to see an approval in only 30 days.
