I mailed an application for I-130 for my wife on may 7, 2007. I received the approval notice on july 11, 2007. The approval notice states the visa petition has been sent to nvc. What happens next and this was really fast. I was expecting this process to take atleast an year to complete. This site helped me a lot to fill in the application.

Go for the I-130 all the way as the CR-1 is a MUCH MUCH better visa than the I-129F.

Still may take a bit more time than the I-129F tho!

Worth it when the beneficiary gets to the US and doesn't have to mess with AOS [good possibility of another interview] and getting SSN.

Cheaper also!

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

We have a lot of posters who think they are K3 but don't post timelines. In this case I'm not going to assume any I-129F has been filed. The OP is far from finished with the visa process. Two months is a little fast for an I-130 petition approval but only a month or so fast. The next steps can be found by studying the guides. Just click on the word "guides" instead of asking people to re-type them at your request. Please fill in your timeline and study the guides. Then come back with specific questions. We don't have enough information abou your case to reliably help you at this point.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Our I-130 was approved in 66 days from time of filing but if you take the CR1 route you will still have a few mor months dealing with the NVC and then waiting on your appointment with the consulate. We chose the K3 visa because my wife is pregnant and getting her here ASAP was the most important for me. I am not sure why people say the CR1 is cheaper than the K3 because what I have seen they are within a couple hundren dollars of the same cost. The only extra costs I see are the EAD and the I-129 fee that is needed for the K3 but the NVC has a few extra fees. With the fee increases I am sure the cost differences will increase. Maybe with new technology the USCIS can speed up the paper process here on the US side and then the wait will only be will the consulates.
