Well, I finally had my interview today at 1:30 pm in Chicago. We ended up being a little bit late because we got lost. Anyhow, we ended up having a very nice immigration officer assigned to our case. She basically asked me the standard questions if I'm a terrorist and so on. She had a very good sense of humor and made jokes about stuff so that made me feel pretty comfortable.

She went through my file checking all the documents and then I was asked for documents. She first asked for a copy of my marriage certificate, then my original birth certificate, and my passport. She removed the I-94 out of there immediately. She asked to see pictures, documents showing that I live at our address (I brought my school registration papers and my membership document stating that I am a member of the American Association for Medical Transcription). I also brought proof of our joint bank account and insurance benefits proving that I am on my husband's insurance policy. LOL, she asked me if I had my house key with me cause she wanted to compare it to my husband's and make sure I have my own house key. I did not have mine with me because I left my purse in the car (less hassle with security). My husband told her he could go get it out of the car but she said never mind, don't worry about it.

To sum it up, I did get approved but I do have an RFE for utility bills and a TB skin test. She told me that since that whole ordeal happened with that American man who traveled with TB from Europe, they now require the skin test. When I had my medical exam done in Germany, they only did the chest X-Ray and my medical did say I have no signs of TB.

So, I will mail her some utility bills and do my TB skin test to send to her and I'm all done for now.

Anyhow, I am approved and she told me I should have my GC by August 1st!

LOL, wasn't that funny? I thought it was strange to ask for the house keys because I never heard anyone else on here mentioning it. But yeah, all in all it was painless and everything ran smoothly :)

Thank you!

Ironic really considering the guy also travelled to Europe with TB, as he already had TB when he left the USA for his honeymoon. Its not like he caught TB in Europe.

Glad to hear that your interview went okay despite the RFEs and good to know about the TB skin test. I had been wondering if those coming over on K1s and K3s would be required to get them or not. I'm going to get mine anyway prior to the interview.

Yeah, I wish they would have told me this somehow before even going to the interview. Had they done that, I would have already had it done. I'm just glad I got approved and will have my GC by August 1st! She stressed that I would definitely have it by then since my husband will be leaving on August 5th.

Yeah, I think it's a good idea for you to get that skin test done before you go to the interview!

I was thinking about you today actually and thinking what kind of a jerk would deny you seeing as your husband is being deployed soon. Spend lots of time together before he leaves. :)

Yeah, the IO we had was just really nice. I was so worried that I wouldn't have all of my documents but I had most except for some utility bills which is also no big deal.

Oh we definitely will! We are going on vacation to Orlando on the 25th until August 4th. I can't wait! :)

Do they require that TB skin test to be done in the last year??

I had it in 2003 but related to a job, and the chest x-ray for the K-1, but now I wonder if they would want me to do it again

I haven't seen anyone here being asked for it who is being processed at CSC (judging from the recent K1 > AOS CSC approvals in at least the April filers thread). I have seen a few people recently who have had interviews at the district office being asked for it. You could be lucky and not have to do one. :) Since I have an interview next month, I'm just going to get one done.

I will! It will kinda suck though because he will be leaving the day after we get back :*( I can't even imagine a year and a half without him.

I don't really understand why people haven't got skin tests. When I went for my medical the Doctor told me: "I know some people will come up positive if they've had the BCG, but if we don't do the test then USCIS can reject the application." This was over a year ago, and it sounds like what he said then is still true today.

Sounds like rampant inconsistancy to me. The dr in London never mentioned the TB skin test to my fiance at all. I guess if we end up getting an AOS interview, we'll go to the civil surgeon here and get one done. Sheesh.

Well my civil surgeon was in the USA, not the UK. Perhaps that makes a difference.

The guy was talking about his own personal experiences with USCIS though, it didn't sound like he'd been told by USCIS to give skin tests, just that people he didn't give the skin test to came back to him to get it after getting RFEs etc.
