I sent the RFE submittal with all the primary and secondary evidence to the wrong friggin' address. :bonk:

I used the same address I used when submitting the K-1 paperwork. Tonight, I looked through the file folder and saw a legal letter envelope with USCIS's RFE address ... a different address. It's on an envelope that no one would use because it couldn't possible fit all the evidence USCIS requested(!). :girlwerewolf2xn:

I have copies of everything and I still have time ... I'm going to re-send the RFE submittal to the correct address. It just doesn't end with this :ranting: petition application. I'm going to be six feet under before this stupid visa is issued !!!! :dead:

Thank you for your kind words!

We received the RFE because MS's passport-style photos were too small. USCIS requires "exactly 2 inches by 2 inches" and MS's were not that size. In Turkey, they use centimeters, not inches. Thus, the RFE.

I just got back from Turkey, and both of us had the photos taken again. That poor man behind the counter (LOL) having to deal with me. "Wait! IT HAS TO BE 2" by 2" !! NO - a little larger. Please. Use this box I drew. It's exactly 2" x 2"!!" LOL. That poor man. He was so great as I'm became unglued in his shop. Also, to my surprise, they don't smile in photos in Turkey - photos like these. MS didn't smile. He looks like a mugger. (LOL) And when I smiled, the man asked me to smile less. Less? Not so big ... your smile. Little smile. Okay, a little smile.

However, the RFE also requested proof of U.S. citizenship, as well as, proof of having met in person within two years.

Thanks, again, Paula&Minya!

Consulates want a straight face, not SEGs. Don't know how much USCIS cares.

The consulate in Turkey should be delighted with MS's photo then. And mine? Well ... less than thrilled.

Yodrak,

2" is a little more than 5 cm (5.08cm), but as MM_MS received an RFE because the pictures originally submitted were not the right size, she just wanted to make sure it is exactly the size specified. :)

MM_MS,

I agree about the not smiling in passport photos. My finace isn't smiling on the photos of his passport, or the recent ones taken for the visa. I mean not even a hint of a smile....I do have a little smile in the photo in my passport. :) Wishing you a speedy approval, and and equally speedy 'rest of journey'!

-P,

5 cm is more than close enough to 2 inches to satisfy the USCIS. Possibly close enough to satisfy the DOS as well.

I expect that the picture originally submitted was far more that 0.08 cm off.

I agree. USCIS accepted pictures that were far from square and considerably smaller than 2"X2". I just asked my daughter why they got new pictures in Guangzhou and she told me the woman at the hospital where they got their medical, told them their pictures were too small. Both hospitals in GUZ that do the medical have been repeatedly told by Consular officials that it's ok to accept the typed fillable forms from the internet but the consistently make people refill them by hand.

The size of the picture in the actual visa is the same size as the picture in the passport, is the same size as the pictures they already had, is the same size as the pictures I sent with the petitions, is the same size as the picture in my passport, which was trimmed from an original size other than 2X2. I got them at Walmart and they were taken with a standard passport picture camera that produces two instant pictures for each snap, just like the ones from 11 years ago.

Pictures are trimmed to the size they want from whatever size they are. There are still instructions out there on current forms asking for a three quarter frontal view showing the right ear.

I suppose it's best to get the 2 by 2 pictures or close metric equivalent but the whole thing sounds pretty silly to me.

Sorry, I had to laugh about the smiling in the photos. I just got back from Ukraine where I met my father in law and brother in law, who both live in Russia. My brother in law took out his drivers license and asked for mine. He looked at them and then laughed and showed me them both. He said, "Americans are always smiling in their official photos" but you never see that with other nationalities. My wife said it's because Americans are happy people.

It's so funny to see photos of people not smiling b/c they look completely different - don't you think? When I show F&F MS's photos, they can't believe the difference. He looks so great with his smile ... imho. And I agree, Americans do smile a lot(!).

The whole RFE over a photograph not cut 2" x 2" is absurd, followed by ridiculous, annoying, frustrating, and plain stupid. I am lucky that I caught the address error in time to re-send all the documents before the due date. Good grief.

<snip> now...get to that post office and get that stuff mailed out! <snip>

Will do. Thanks for all of your encouragement, and laughs. It really does help to relieve the stress!
