Did anyone activate their IR-1 or CR-1 visa at Toronto Airport POE when flying from Toronto To the USA ?

We did this on April 8th and still have not received any welcome letter or SS card or green card in our mail.

We are in Florida.

Someone somewhere said that they do not immediately send the IV package from the airports and that they hold on to them and accumulate a bunch of them together and then send them all to the USCIS for card processing.

Can anyone confirm or deny if that is true or not ?

I wonder if that is why we have not got anything yet ?

It really sucks that there is NO WAY to track what is happening to it. At least when you do an AOS in the USA they give you a receipt with a number on it which can be tracked online to know when your card production has been ordered and mailed etc...

I can't even find out if they mailed it to a wrong address and it got returned or anything. There seems to be no way to tell.

We tried calling the customer service line and they are COMPLETELY clueless.

The first rep kept on arguing with me and saying that we need to still apply for Adjustment of Status now that we have arrived in the USA or no card will come.

I over and over explained that we did immigrant visa interview already in Canada and she still ignorantly stood her ground and said there is no way to track anything from Department of State.

I hung up and called back and spoke to someone else and at least they knew about the immigrant visa process but he just said that there is NO WAY to track the status of it as it was done by Department of State and no trackable receipt number was issued. He said that the stamp in the passport was valid for 1 year so we should just wait for up to 11 months and then go to the local office if nothing comes by 11 months.

This is crazy. I know a few people on here who entered at Buffalo POE after us and already got their cards.

I was also going to enter at Buffalo and instead went through Toronto Airport thinking it would be "safer" and "quicker" and now this.

ANy input from anyone ?

Maybe try making an infopass appointment. The USCIS 1-800 number is pretty useless. They are indeed the mis-information line.

I tried to make an infopass appointment online to our local office and after inputting all the information it lead me to a page which said our local office is not taking any appointments at this time and that there is no estimate as to when they will take appointments in the future.

And yep you guessed it...The page said to call customer service line if you need questions answered.

We tried just going down to the local office and went up to the door and spoke to security and they said there is absolutely no way we would be allowed in to speak to anyone unless we had an appointment.

We explained the message on the website and he said he could not help us further. When we insisted on getting further information on how to proceed he said OK and to hold on and he would check inside. He went away for about 3 or 4 minutes and came back and handed us a post it note with the number for the USCIS customer service line and said that's all he was told inside to give us.

Our taxpayer dollars at work folks !

Just amazing.
