Had my biometrics today at the ASC in Norfolk, VA. Thought a short review might help answer some questions that others might have. Not sure if this will differ for each ASCs though.

My appointment was scheduled for 11 a.m. today but we got there at 10:30 a.m. Remember, no cameras, no cellphones, no recording devices allowed.

First the security guard looked at my ID (passport) and appointment letter. My letter was for biometrics for both my AOS and EAD. He highlighted a few items on a form, highlighted my case numbers on the appointment letter and then asked me to fill out the form. The form just asks for your vital info (name, DOB, place of birth, height, weight, hair colour, eye colour, A#, case #s, address, phone number, etc.). Once it was filled, I gave it back to him, he looked it over and then told me to give it to the reception desk. The reception desk guy asked to look at my hands, then told me to just go to a guy over by the wall. There was no one else there so I didn't have to wait for a number to be called.

The biometrics guy scanned the barcodes on my appointment letter and then asked me to verify that the information was correct. Then put on gloves and swabbed my fingers with some sort of cleaning solution. He first took fingerprints of 4 fingers at one time of each hand. Then a thumb print. Then he took each individual finger on each hand which takes a little longer than the set of 4 fingers as it needed to be accurate. After he was done, it was time for my photo.

Be aware that they told me that you cannot have ANY facial piercings for the photos. I was not aware of this since it was never mentioned. I have my nose pierced with a small ring in it which I had to take out. It wasn't a problem, just didn't know I had to do that.

Photo took 5 seconds. He showed it to me and I said it was fine, and that was it.

I was in and out of there within 10 minutes.

Just a warning about the photograph: Somewhere in between you saying "it looks fine" and it being printed on your Green Card, they will photoshop on 100lbs of extra weight.

I also had my biometrics appointment today in jacksonville FL ...was fine and the lady was lovely asking me about England and saying how lovely my accent is!

Traffic was decent! We left Richmond at 9 a.m. and got to Norfolk at 10:30 which is pretty good time. The drive back (we stayed in Norfolk until 2 p.m. for lunch) was a little longer. It took 2 hours to get back to Richmond and we just beat rush hour traffic. I can give you a couple of recommendations for lunch in Norfolk if you'd like! PM me. :)

funny about the piercing thing for you - I have more than that (nose and lip piercing) and they didn't make me take mine out, oh well, maybe they forgot?! :lol:

funny about the piercing thing for you - I have more than that (nose and lip piercing) and they didn't make me take mine out, oh well, maybe they forgot?! :lol:

I guess it depends on how picky the people who work there are. Seriously, you can't even SEE my nose ring in any of my ID photos. Thankfully it was only a 16ga CBR. If it was 10ga I wouldn't have been able to get it out without ring closing pliers.
