Hello All,

We would like to share our experience in Chennai Consulate when we had our interview for CR1/IR1.

First I would like to thank all the people who guided me in getting the my CR1/IR1 in this forum. I will go in detail. though it is a little bit delayed.

1. Once we heard through NVC that my papers have been shipped to Chennai Consulate. After 10 days I called them and requested for a interview date within 20 days. They promptly asked me to send an e-mail and i got the reply within 4 hrs. It was amazing.

2. Then I received the checklist of documents to get to consulate(each case varies)

3. Called the lister Lab and took appointment in old Jagnnathan Rd, Nungabakkam and Dr Raj Kumar from US.

4. Went to Hyderabad office, submitted all the documents except Local Police Certificate. We got one police certificate from Passport office and one from Local Police station ( you can give this at the time of interview)

5. 10 days before the interview we went to VFS office in Hyderabad. Got it done in 20 minutes.

6. Three days before the interview we went to Lister lab at morning 7:00 am and completed the test in 25 minutes and later went to get the reports in the evening at 3:30 pm and got our reports . Then we went to Dr. Raj Kumar and he checked everything and gave a receipt.

7. On interview day went to consulate exactly 7:45 am at 8:00 am they allowed us inside. We finished initial security procedures and went to the interview building . after 10 minutes they called our name went and submitted all the documents she asked us who filled the documents and current tax records like W2 etc for last three years

8. we waited for nearly 2 hrs and we were called by and American consular officer and we had interview for 6 minutes talking about cultures and holidays.

9. I have asked the consular officer whether we can pickup the passport the same day.. She said most probably you can pick it up tomorrow. We picked our passports in chennai and we landed in SFO within three days.

My experience has been that it is very cool if you follow the rules exactly.

Thanks,

Srinivas
