I got a phone call thursday morning that my visa was ready and I could come pick it up in the afternoon.

It was a very emotional moment, I was about to plan a visit to Clara, but knowing that once again I'd have to return made us both sad,

and then this phone call lifted all the sadness in one bright stroke.

When I arrived thursday afternoon the embassy was closed ... a new ambassador had been appointed and he wanted to hold a meeting,

so they were exceptionally closed earlier.

When I came back to the car, someone had hit the door. Also the parking meter stole my money by an error in the machinery and took 5 €

for one hour parking. Luckily the car has full insurance, but I went home without visa after driving for hours in heavy traffic and with a big

bulb in the door of a new car. I felt like crying again :P

Then friday morning, I went by train, I entered, and they just handed it over to me without any more questions.

The brown enveloppe has ink stamps in the back with transparent tape over it. Is that the way they seal it? I havent touched it, but I'm concerned

if that will be accepted at PoE ... it looks amateuristic with the tape beiing a little loose at the end of the enveloppe. This is the first time i see it,

so I'm not sure if this is how its supposed to be or not.

I'm leaving in 18 days, on may 8. I'm finally getting also a little scared for the big unknown ... but im also very excited.

First of all Congrats!! No one seems to have answered your question about the taped brown envelope. My fiance just got hers and I'm looking at it right now. The brown envelope is sealed but not by tape just with the glue from the envelope itself. THere is a stamp on the edge of the flap and some scribbling through it with a pen. I guess both these will show that the envelope has not been opened. I'm not sure about the amateurish way yours was taped. I'd either try and go with it as long as the stamp and scribbling is lined up and doesn't look like it was opened and re-taped for you, or i'd go back to the embassy and ask them about the taping. It's hard to say if anyone else got theirs taped or just sealed since no one else answered your question. My fiance's IS NOT TAPED but just sealed. I carefully took out her passport from the clear plastic envelope they both came in and put the brown envelope back in the plastic and re-sealed it for fear that it may accidentally get opened. Good Luck

Congratulations, Alexander! And... my brown envelope is sealed in exactly the way you describe. I'm still in the UK at the moment (leaving next Saturday), but am sure it will be fine when I come to hand the envelope over at the POE - I've put it back inside the plastic envelope that it was delivered in, though, so the tape doesn't start coming off while the envelope's in my carry-on, just to be on the safe side! :)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png
