packet 3

hello all,

i am a december filer and i received my NOA2 by mail last week, is there anything we have to do while our file is with NVC, i hear a lot of people talking about the big packet 3; is this something they send to us or if we send it to them, i am confused about it all. If anyone has been over this part of the "journey" i would really appreciate it if someone helped me out on what to do next. Thanks for all of your help.

NVC will review your file then forward it to India. There's nothing you have to do now except wait. Packet 3 will be sent to you by the embassy.

NVC will review your file then forward it to India. There's nothing you have to do now except wait. Packet 3 will be sent to you by the embassy.

look up above on this page at the locaton embassy information, look for your embassy and you will see what is included, meanwhile be gathering up the rest of your evidence of the continueing relationship, maybe the bank letter, your job letter, etc whatever is required for your circumstances.

I posted the other day on this, but it was moved. I think the appropriate forum is the embassy forum.

I find it helpful to fill out all of the forms, and gather the documents now, so that when packet 3 arrives, we can promptly send it in.

Each embassy requires somethings a little differently, so I strongly suggest you check their website.

What we need are:

DS 230 Parts I (signed) Part II, complete but unsigned

DS 156K

DS156

DS157

Original Birth Certificate, in a very particular format (we are getting 2 copies of each of ours)

Police Record (careful about getting this too soon- it expires in 3 mos)

Court Record

I 134- Financial Support with supporting employer letter/tax forms from last 2 years

3 color passports of each (1 will go with the medical form)

And after we send that in we get an interviews.

In between that time we just need to assemble more photo documentation, 2 more notarized letters of intent,

and the Medical exam and vaccinations (he can't access his vaccination record and will need to redo some)

It seems approximately two months from receipt of Package for the full security clearance to go through in Ankara.

So, we will be busy...

Don't know how things will be done in India, but we are filing in Jordan and have been waiting 5 months for packet 3, which never came. Then suddenly got an email from the embassy in late February asking if we wanted to move our interview from July up to March. We didn't even know we had an interview! But we weren't ready because we'd been waiting for that packet to tell us what to do. So my advice is wait for the packet, but while you're waiting gather everything you think you're going to need, so you'll be ready for whatever comes up. Good Luck!
