Hey Ewok....I have a suggestion. LOULOU suggested ages ago that post count not be applied to OT. I think it's a great idea. Then posting in OT wouldn't lend 'credibility' towards those lil red hearts.

I added a poll to get everyone else's opinion....maybe if there's a clear winner you can decide if it's a good idea :D

I said yes, the little hearts etc dont really represent knowledge that person has its more or less just a fun thing now i think. Im not sure there is anyone just posting to see how many they can get. Often there are "real" guestions in OT and they require real anwers.

Yup, I could care less about hearts...I dont look at them. Once you've been around awhile, you get to know who's opinions are important or relevant to you. Generally I sign on, check my forum, then check all posts made by about 4 -6 people who are my 'guru's' ....

then start reading for fun and entertainment..Ive never looked at people's post count as a sign of credibility. :no:

Apr 16 - surprise RFE arrives..they lost my medical. New medical returned, Apr 23

Jun 28 - CARD PRODUCTION ORDERED!!!

July 06- Green card arrives.

I think it should count no matter where you post. Hearts are fun and cute. this is also a place for fun too. we all know

I joined the forum in '04, I was more of a reader than a poster. I would post once in while to ask questions, or to help out a fella about an Immigration process that I just went through. Often I would rather PM a poster/VJ member, I didn't really care about the points or blocks or hearts. Then I noticed that one day, I have 6 blocks under my icon, how did that happen?

I probably wouldn't notice that but I've had a lot of time on my hands these days :lol: and if one reply/post a day would count towards another block that would be great, but it's not the center of my little world. IMHO, any board replies should count. ;)

Yes there are a couple of open ones that the people are intentionally doing that, also at the time it is (was) being done in a jokeing manner, it dies down and they go on about their business. Square, hearts etc its not that important i think, in the end what have you got, the more your showing, meaning the more your on the computer, and some days i am guilty of that!!! (but dont tell my boss) :whistle:

To some people (and I'm not picking on anyone in particular here) it is a competition. Humans can be competitive in nature and it spills across to message boards too. To get another heart is like a reward system in some ways to certain people.

I'd rather have a choccy bar personally, but that's just me! :P
