 We got the visa today

Sorry we didnt post it earlier but we were sleeping because we were working on the paperwork, putting everything in order until 4:00 am and we had to wake up at 6:00 because our interview was at 8:00, we got at the embassy at 7:00.

We are going to share our interview experience, step by step. I hope this helps everyone who still has to go to their interview in Lima-Peru.

We got there at the embassy one hour earlier, there was a lot of people already there, but not too many couples, just 2 couples apart from us. The security guard outside with the uzi (gun) wasnt exactly very friendly or helpful in telling us what line to wait in, he insisted for us to wait in the longest line for regular visas .Then a guy from inside came out to announce the whole process of what you need and asked for immigrant visa applicants to form a new line. Thank god. Well we didnt wait too long before going inside which felt a lot like going through airport security. They never checked my passport (Didier) though. Once we got inside we were directed to go to window 14 to turn in our interview appointment paper. Then we sat down to wait to be called. Talk about a nerve racking experience. We got called to window 10 shortly after sitting. she noticed we had our paperwork in an accordian style file and told us to go sit and remove all of our paperwork and wait to be called again. after all the organizing we did. She came off like someone who had a bad night. We could hear how rude she was with everyone after us. Well thank god we got called to window 12. Talk about a much more pleasant person to talk to. she asked us for the DS-156 and asked for us to sit down again. She used that form to pull our file. While we were waiting we continued to pull the rest of the forms out of the file holder we had. We then got called again to window 12 where she asked us for the rest of the forms and a few pictures. She then gave us form DS-230 part 1 back and said we didnt need that. She asked some ?s as we handed her the forms such as, where did we meet? When did we start our relationship? When did we meet in person? How long was my first visit to Peru? She asked if we did any traveling together while I was here. She then made a comment that this was my second trip and I told her that this was my 5th trip. She replied with a wow and a smile as she asked me since june of 2005? She asked Oly if she has any family in the states? Then she told us to have a seat till we are called in for the interview. During all this we saw 2 other couples go into room 15 to get interviewed and we were able to look inside and noticed how it was a small room with a window kind of like how they show jail visiting on television. We saw a man with glasses and remembered posts of about him. Both couples appeared to get denied :( we saw the big blue slip of death. Seeing all that did not help calm the nerves. We got called to window 9 where the woman took Olys fingerprints. We thought that was all she wanted so we were going to sit down when she said where are you going I need to ask you some ?s She asked the same ?s as in window 12 plus she asked about her prior application for the tourist visa that was denied and asked why I wasnt mentioned on that application. Oly replied that we were talking but didnt have a relationship at the time yet. we were only talking but not engaged yet. She then asked when we will get married and then replied congratulations and wish you both lots of luck and handed us the tiny pink slip as she told us that we got the visa. We were absolutely shocked because we thought we had to go to room 15. but as you can see we got the visa at window 9. we were never separated at at any window at anytime. :)

Well that was what our interview was like. it was a total of 1 hour from when we went to the first window to window 9. I think the wait for the DHL window in the heat was the worst part. I hope our experience could help the next couples.

We would like to thank everyone here for all their knowledge and support. We couldnt have done it without all of you. Thanks again so much with much respect.
