I can speak from the other end of it.... It helped me a lot when people "pretended" to feel for me when I went through a very traumatic experience a few months ago...

I mean what I say, whether its in real life or on this board. So I don't consider my support or an 'I'm sorry' to be 'pretend.' If I didn't truly feel sorry for someone, I would choose to say nothing. If it puts you out to "pretend", then just don't bother replying at all.

Pretty simple, n'est pas?

If I am in a casual conversation with a stranger, for example on a plane, and that person speaks of a painful event, I feel sympathy. I feel it, so I express it. I do not need to be close friends with another human being to feel a kind emotion. If you do, then I feel the same kind emotion for you... pity.

If this board pisses you off so much, or it makes YOU feel sick, why do you insist on coming back time and time again?

I'm just curious.

If something isn't worth a condolensce I don't comment on it (like, oh i'm so sad my BMW got hit today and it has scratches). But when someone loses someone/finds out terrible news I mean it when I offer my support. Sometimes it is just attention grabbing around here and I ignore it. But when someone is grieving, they get my honest support/"i'm so sorry" whatever you want to call it.

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!

Well said, Tracy. I'm right there with you.

I've found that people who question others' motives often have cause to question their own.

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

i agree..and when i say i am sorry, it is cause i feel the person pain..being human myself and experiencing life ups and downs...also, working in the field daily, life trauma comes through your office door daily...

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
