Who thinks the US will send troops to the African delta region in say the next 6 months?

6 months!? They're barely scraping together enough troops to send into Iraq (and lets not forget about Afghanistan either).

Well many say and argue that the USA is the world police. If so the US will try to put an end to what ever extremist groups out there that will harm the US economy or its people.

for example diamonds and oil easily line the pockets of extremist, and then can set up base in a poor country by making its citizens poorer then go on to invest in technologies to disrupt the world economy. More so than anywhere is such happenings in Africa and middle East.

In fact, that's why many people have asked why we are in Iraq while Islamic militias take hold of countries like Somalia - which has just tried to start a war with Ethiopia.

That ###### has gone on for years - its extremely doubtful IMO. Again - the US currently doesn't have the manpower for something like that. In fact, that's why many people have asked why we are in Iraq while Islamic militias take hold of countries like Somalia - which has just tried to start a war with Ethiopia.

Actually, we just got back into action in Somalia. Not with a lot of force but with a lot of firepower it would seem. And I heard on the news this morning that we're looking to move an aircraft carrier into the area shortly. Yes, I am quite happy that there is some support from the US and other countries to stomp out those radical UIC thugs in Somalia. Naturally, I have an eye on this thing seeing that my wife's folks live next door...

If the US can line up enough alies then the US will likely have ground troops in these areas. But with the low approval of the current engagements and Bush admin., I'm doubtful that the alies would back US.

How about let Nigeria/Mali (end-and-source) take care of the Niger river region and Egypt/Ethiopia do so for Nile region--without further externals?
