Hello,

I signed up to VJ a while back and pop in and out once in a while. I would like to start out by thanking everyone for the info they have posted.. so far I have been able to move almost to the finish line without issues. I have done a K-3 petition for my wife in Ho Chi minh and seen her 3 times over the close to 3 years I have known her. I'm not sure of all the terms so please bare with me. I believe I completed package 3 and from my understanding that completes all the paper work here and was told it was sent to HCMC. I was also told there is no more paper work needed and she would be given an interview date after review. After a good 2 months gone by she DID get an interview date on JAN 11th!. I thought they normally give a month warning.. but didn’t this time. Normally, I would be happy about that until She told me they wanted more "stuff" from us.. I sent her money to go get her exam with a doctor and she sent me a copy of some paper work they gave to her. I not quite sure what I need to do from this point. I have attached the Doc on here to look at.

1) Do I complete the DS-230 part 1 and 2? or is that for her only?

2) They ask for an I-864 signed and notarized. I already did that already with packet 3 (verification of employment/w-2's and tax info for the last 3 years).

3) It also talks about submitting "The Preferred Record of income" for 2005?!?! ####### is that? Her relatives thinks its a signed packet with 2005 tax info that I have to get at a local IRS office.. but no one is sure..

I started this process Sept of last year.. 3 months just to GET the marriage certificate from the VN gov to Start the K-3 here. Then On Jan 3 2005 I sent in the paper work to start the process here. I'm just frustrated with the time things take while people that are illegal here seem to get get away with so much and get free health care and benefits. I know its a rant.. but just ticks me off. All of us had to play the game and suffer. That and the little communication. I know they are hammered with paperwork.. but why couldn’t they call or mail me forms they need. Both my wife and I are scratching our heads on some of this. Now I'm at crunch time and interview in 2 weeks and there’s more things they need.. ahhhhhhhhhhhh... Anyway, Any help you guys can provide would be appreciated.[/size]

1) I can't remember if I filled out the DS-230 or not. I remember searching on the internet to find out particulars on it. Perhaps someone else on VJ can answer this question.

2) Chances are that the HCMC Consulate already has your I-864 if you have already submitted it. However, don't count on it; your wife should have an extra copy of it just in case.

3) The Consular officers prefer "tax transcripts" that you get from the IRS. I think you can call the IRS to obtain this item.

The DS-230 is filled out by your wife. If you already have the Affidavit of support notarized with your tax papers, then don't worry about it. I think it is good for 1 year. Someone please corret me if I am wrong.

We wish you the best of luck. Stay calm and focused. You have been waiting a long time and now the time is finally here. make sure you prepare her with questions, and make sure she has all paperwork.

Thanks guys.. From what I have been reading the ds-230 is for her to fill out.. as for the irs info I have been trying to call them but the local irs dont accept calls?!!?.. they just have a VM talk about calling other numbers.. I never knew it would be so hard to get a hold of them.. maybe I should stop paying taxes and see if they come to me

I'm trying to stay cool.. but they didnt give us a month to get the new pape rwork request. Hell, its going to take a while just to get the paper work over there... I did send them a notarized affidavit of support with 2003-2005 tax info and w-2s for those year.. it was less then 6 months old.. but from the note they gave her its like they want another copy but this time with the " Perrfrence of income"? thingy.. haha I will just send another and find out abotu this special paper work needed

If you go to www.irs.gov and type in the words "tax transcripts" it will give you links to some forms. I think the one you want is 4506-T, but sus this out for yourself to make sure. Also listed on the website are 1-800 numbers you can call to ask the IRS your questions.

It is possible to fax documents to Vietnam. There are businesses in the Vietnamese American community that specialize in sending money and faxes to Vietnam. Also, you can scan and e-mail documents if you have the right software.
