Do approvals typically slow down in January?

Hello to all. I am very, very happy for all of those who are receiving approvals. I have reviewed the immigration timelines closely. Just wondering whether the approval process (NOA1 to NOA2) usually slows down during January. It is understood that the holidays will cuase some delay, but the holidays should be over by January 7 (for federal employees at least). Just wondering whether November filers can (not should) look for possible approval in January. Before anyone objects, I understand that we all have to wait. I also understand that there are many who filed before October and have not been approved. I understand that patience is necessary during this process. My fiancee would like to get an idea (optimistic and conservative) of how long it might take. Any and all thoughts on this subject will be greatly appreciated.

Patience is a virtue in this process. I'm a November filer, too, and I'm not expecting NOA2 until mid February at the earliest.

I'm sure there are service center employees out on leave for the holidays but there's no way to predict how much (if at all) that will slow things down.

I would anticipate a negligible slow down....nothing substantial, however. Just typical Holiday work flow.

Being government employees, I think you can assume that USCIS will be working with less staff during the Holidays.

But, after the New Year, they should get back into regular hours and staff numbers again.

Good luck for a speedy approval!!!!

We were early November filers too, in '05. Our petition was approved in February '06 and his interview was in May '06. There is no rhyme or reason to how they do things at USCIS. We watched others timelines who were similar to ours to kind of gauge when our approval *might* be coming. Best of luck to you!

I am an October filer and I have received nothing yet. I was hoping this month but I too expect January because of the holidays.

We are on the same boat...We are also an October filer & we are hoping to receive the NOA2 at january... A friend of mine who had their NOA1 on the 1st week of October already had the NOA2 few days ago, so since our NOA1 was on the 17th that is why I am also hoping for an approval next to her... I know it is a case to case basis but there is no harm to hope for the good...hehe

God speed!!!

June 2007 - our "big day"
