All,

I need your help. My fiancee didn't get the K1 visa today because her has some skin problem on her hand and the machine can't recognize her finger print (well, she doesn't have any good finger print). So the consular officer sent her home and ask her to wait until she has some finger print grow back. But this skin problem is always there and can't be solved. Does that mean there is no other way to get her finger print? Please help!!!!!

Tell her to go see a dermatologist to know for sure that she won't be able to get prints. Then get this doc to write a statement saying so and explaining everything in case she really can't have prints (is she a teacher or worked with chalk, btw?) taken at all. Then get her to contact the Embassy to see how she can send this info in and what can be done in her case.

We just called the embassy, Dep. of State and Dep. of Homeland Security. It seems like the embassy has the final say on the finger print. They have no other way of doing the finger printing except the right index finger, scanned by the machine.

I wonder how they do this for someone who is no hand, or has birth defect.

Anyway, beside complete the forms correctly, please ask your fiancee to take care of his/her fingers and hands. They are important too.

Wasn't the embassy able to give you an option, since you know there will not be a way to take her print, even in the future? I cannot imagine that they haven't dealt with this before.
