When I wake up this morning, I receive this email from the Brazilian embassey.

Effective November 1st 2006, all K1 (and dependents) and K3 (and dependents) should fill out the DS-156 through this link:

http://evisaforms.state.gov

After filling it out, this form needs to be printed and on the last page a barcode should be visible. This form cannot be hand written, it has to be filled out in this link.

These forms should be brought by you on the day of your interview with another copy attached.

Why?

Don't you imagine that they'll make note of it in the visa application paperwork (that you have not yet received?)?

They're not that smart. I received my fiance's packet last week. The new policy went into effect today. And they sent me blank DS-156 forms that expired in 2004. Thank god I knew to get the forms from the internet before he left with the wrong ones!

Oh, interesting! Apologies to all then--I read this as a country specific issue.

As of today, I believe it applies to all consulates. Check your consulate website.

I believe it is applied to ALL countries... since you click on Visa Application Forms, then DS-156: Nonimmigrant Visa Application

It takes you to the electronic form

Correct. The majority of the consulate websites have had a notice of this implementation and start date for a while now.

Erik, don't worry!!

http://www.embaixada-americana.org.br/inde...amp;itemmenu=58

Please fill out on-line the electronic NIV application (DS-156) located on this page. If your computer does not support the minimum requirements specified below or you choose not to use the electronic DS-156, then use the non-electronic version of the DS-156.

Ok, trying not to panic here.

I'm speaking to my fiance right now, both form DS-156's they sent her were in Portuguese... she did not get any DS-156 forms in English. I had her check the dates on the papers, and they are dated 09/30/2007, the same as the new ones... so they aren't out of date.

My only concern is that they say on the site now, that these papers must be done in English, but if they only sent her copies in Portuguese, and she answered them in Portuguese what are we to do?

Hopefully they will take them as they are, seeing how they sent them to her like that.
