Hola everyone,

I just thought I would say hi, how cool all of us are petitioning for our fiances from Mexico. I just wanted to add something to this post. We have many similarities: our boyfriends/fiance's are all from Mexico, we are all in the k1 process (some a bit more ahead than others), we are all female (right? at least I think, I'm not sure about E&K). Where are your novios from? Mine is from Jalisco!

Viva Mexico! :P

E&K, we're the only ones without our NOA2, hopefully they come soon :)

Hey Girls,

Congrats on getting your NOA2. I recieved mine back in May but still have not receive visa. See issues on my timeline. I hope everyone's interview goes well and no problems. I am currently in Mexico visiting Leonardo in Puerto Penasco for 2 weeks. Very happy to be here with him. My advise to you girls - I know when you receive your Fiance packet in the mail you will be jumping up and down and making wedding plans. Be cautious. KitKat - you know what I mean. If you have read forums about CDJ - don't expect to get Visa right then and there. I think it is better to be prepared for the worst rather than expecting the best. I don't mean to be a downer. There are so many success stories at CDJ but there are also many delays. I know Mexican employment is not easy to keep/get. You know what I mean. I thought Leo would be with me 2 months ago in TN. But we are put on AR and now I am having to visit him for 2 wks b/c he probably won't be here for the holidays. I was so 100% certain at his interview nothing would go wrong - but it did and now we are on a possible 6 month delay. I am so happy for you girls that you are now at CDJ and the process seems close to the end but I just wanted to let you know it is still a journey a CDJ and please be prepared. Best of luck to all my CDJ girls on Visajourney and getting our fiances over to USA as soon as possible.

I'm sorry to hear about your wait!!! I know me and my fiance will be denied at his interview and we'll have to file an I-601 because he was in the US illegally. I'm just excited that we are a step closer! :) Hopefully you get your approval soon! I have all of you in my prayers!!!

Allie - good to hear from you and hopefully you and Leo are having a wonderful time together. You gave sound advice well worth taking. There are potential glitches along the way at any consulate, but it sure seems like CDJ is overwhelmed, understaffed and not all that competent. I'm especially irritated right now due to a ridiculous e-mail exchange I have had with them over the past few weeks trying to get some basic information - I'd like to think it's simply a language issue but considering they work for the American Consulate that's not a very reasonable explanation. In any event, I really hope you hear something by the time you get home and if not, maybe you can get a senator involved to try to push a bit.

Waiting - are you prepared for the waiver with the hardship letter? Do you feel well informed about the entire process and what it entails? I ask because we are also filing a waiver due to overstay and it took me several months to write the letter and gather all of the necessary documentation. There have been some cases recently where the consulate has NOT accepted the waiver at the interview and has required the applicant to return for another appointment two weeks later to pay the waiver fee, give fingerprints and submit the waiver. I hope this does not happen to either of us, but better to be informed and prepared for this. Also, if you have not seen the example hardship letters on immigrate2us.net, you should definitely read through the 601 forum there. It's taking around 10 months these days for waiver approval - I hope to god this changes in the near future.

Good luck to everyone and have a great weekend!

I thought all the fiance forms (DS-156, etc.) were now to be completed online and that you do not have to wait for the packet. I mean you do have to wait for the official NOA2 and forms from NVC. But, the packet from Juarez you don't have to wait for. Once they have the information and you have your stuff together, you can go to Juarez.

You can download all of the forms online - and you're right that the DS-156K needs to be done online with the barcode generated. But you need to wait until you receive the packet because the official "we have received your file" letter is in the packet and this is necessary for the medical and the interview. If they have not completed processing of your file and sent the official letter, then it's not ok to go. You may be confused by the fact that CDJ doesn't require appointments for fiances - but that doesn't mean you can go when you are ready - they still have to be ready. Also, there are no forms from the NVC - everything comes directly from CDJ.

In the past people have gone without it and waited in line at the information booth to get a copy, but I feel like that is risky. (One poster said he waited for 5 hours).

An update from Laurel Scott, an attorney who deals with CDJ and waivers, regarding their new policy on waivers (very very irritating):

Update on Juarez:

Processing times have increased from 6-9 months to 10+ months. OIC (officer-in-charge) has requested that all I-601ers not file ANY inquiries until it has been 11+ months since you filed your waiver. The consulate is no longer accepting the I-601 waiver application on the day of the K visa or immigrant visa interview. They are now requiring everyone to come back for a second interview to file. While I have not yet gotten any denials through USCIS-Juarez, other attorneys have reported to me that their approval rates have plummeted and that they've had a marked increase of clients approaching them following a denial of their pro se filings (note: a "pro se" filing is something a person files without using an attorney). When the OIC saw that I was telling everyone that Juarez was the easiest office to get an I-601 approval abroad, he asked me to be careful not to give anyone the impression that the I-601 process in Juarez is a 'formality'; i.e. you have to PROVE your case.
