I am reading conflicting stories on what needs to be notarized. We never notarized our letter of intent to marry and we were approved, yet other couples have done it.

Will someone clarify exactly what needs to be notarized? Is it just the I-134 form? We don't need to spend more money on things like that especially if it's not necessary. I just spent $42.40 for a Canadian police certificate in Vancouver and was told by the Japanese embassy that my police certificate there will take 2 months to process! Plus the medical is going to cost $275?! So...not in a good mood... :wacko:

01-02-2009 Mailed in I-751 application

01-12-2009 Temporary resident status extended for one year

02-03-2009 Biometrics appointment

The I-134 needs to be notarized without question. I notarized my letter of intent as well.

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

The I-134 is the only document requiring a notary stamp.

Other documents need to be originals, but not notarized.

You definitely get nickled and dimed to death with this process, that's for sure.

You only need to notarize the I-134.

Sept. 5/08... Sent in Voter Registration Card

Sept. 9/08... SSA office to change status to "U.S. citizen"

Oct. 8/08... Applied in person for U.S. Passport

Oct. 22/08... U.S. Passport received

DONE!!! DONE!!! DONE!!! DONE!!!

Apr. 6/05... DS-230, Part I faxed to Vancouver Consulate

May 26/05... K-2 Interview - APPROVED!!!!

Sept. 5/05... Entered U.S.

Sept. 7/05... I-485 & I-131 sent to CLB

Feb. 22/06... AOS Interview - APPROVED!!!!! (Passport NOT stamped)

Dec. 4/07... I-751 sent to NSC

May 23/08... 10-Yr. PR Card arrives in the mail

Mar. 22/11.... N-400 sent to AZ

June 27/11..... Interview - PASSED!!!

July 12/11..... Oath Ceremony

There are notaries where I work, so I had three original copies of the I -134 notarized. I wanted the letter of intent notiarized since I was sending it overseas... but there is no requirement for the letter to be notarized.
