Expiditing the Visa Process?

As of now I am in the preliminary stages of getting everything together to send the I129F, thanks to this site and others similar to it I have gained a whole alot of knowledge so first I want to thank this community for that. On the other hand I have read countless horror stories, after looking up the aprox. waiting time for the country my fiance is in (2 YEARS!!!!!!!!) It has been very very disheartening. We have been together for 7 Years, and aprox 5 of those years we have been apart (I was in the military). We got married and then divorced (because of my military commitment, i felt i couldnt be there for her when she needed me I have been to Iraq 4 times and Afghanistan twice. most of my time in the military was spent away from HOME. Bringing her would have been very hard, she didnt know the language, didnt know anyone she could relate too.) We still love eachother very very much, and near the end of my enlistment we decided we cant be with anyone else. So my question is, is there anyway possible to expidite the process? I mean I would do ANYTHING ANYTHING to get it knocked down to 6 months, to the end of the world, to washington, D.C. and speak to the president if I have to, I will lobby the white house if I have to. Its very disheartening to know that after we devoted (she made alot of sacrifices too) so many years to this country that we have to wait so long to be together. Please any and ALL input is appreciated.

Thanks

Nelson

hi nelson,

there is really nothing u can do to speed up the process except when sending in u petition make sure everything is correct and complete. that will help u from getting a request for more info in the end.

sorry but immigration is a waiting game.

The only 2 things I've heard might speed up the process is if you were still in the military and were likely to be deployed. Or if you or close family member was very ill. Otherwise you will just have to wait. I thought waiting times for a Manila interview were bad. But 2 years? That really sucks.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

I understand the waiting time at the embassy are already bad enough...but maybe you guys could get married there and try the direct consular filing instead? It would only eliminate 4-7 months of waiting for the I129F at the USCIS service center in the states, but at least it does cut off some time. I had hoped being in the service would give some kind of advantage to those of us going through this process, but I have found there is nothing to be gained from it...especially not sympathy from the government we serve. :(

This case advice requires some insight from senior VJ'ers.

Summoning: Yodrak or Aussiwench! They can offer some insight. Wait for that advice before doing anything.
