This is a good thing. If you can get 50% more widgets from the same unit hour of labor, who wouldn't want that?

Not just that, but also that the frequent lamentations we hear of how "we don't make anything anymore" in the US are simply not true.

Productivity for the win. Also not mentioned is that the service sector has expanded a lot during all this time to take the slack for the less needed manufacturing workers.

I will say that this time last year that trucking took a nosedive but so far it has really revived and I am as busy as ever.
