I am reading different threads on this forum and I came across and read one thread in which people wrote they needs to submit their all original documents which NVC asked them to submit.

Now my question is this as of now my petition recenly got approved and send to the NVC and in that petition I submitted all the attested photocopies of the documents with their translated copies too in english language, Do I also have to submit my original documents as my consulate in Islamabad Pakistan and If I also have to submit my original documents and can you please tell me when and where?.

Should I have to show the original documents at the consular office to the interviewing officer at the time of interview?.

Hi and thanks for your replies what kind of documents which are necessary to submit to NVC other then Birth Certificate as when my petition was filed I send them few mandatory affidavits, National ID Card English translation certified copy, My all academic certificates and degrees attested notarized photocopies, pictures with family members.

Now question is do I also have to submit my original academic certificates and degrees alongside my National ID Card and Photos which I send already again or I only have to submit original Birth Certificate, and one more question after sending all these documents is there any surety that all my original documents will be back to me safely as these original documents are very hard to get again if they lost?.

Hi can tell me the specific items which they asked to send to NVC in that DS 230 Packet if you know because I try to find out but in vein because I didn't find any information about the what documents which they asked to submit.

And what is the different between Original and Original certified copies which they accept how can I get the original certified copies if I don't want to send the Original birth certificates because of fear of lost if they got lost in sending or receiving process?.

What this means specially the Bold part of the text in this paragraph The applicant and each family member who will accompany the applicant to the United States will need to submit original documents or certified copies of the documents listed in this section from an appropriate authority (the issuing entity).

Now I have a confusion does this means only issuing authority of Birth Certificate is authorize to attest the birth certificate or any equal level govt authority can attest the copy of Birth Certificate.

I had a notary 'certify' all of my documents. I am an Australian and an American citizen certified all of my original documents for me. I can't speak for Pakistan but I do know that our embassy accepts certified documents regardless of the ethnicity of the person who notarized them or the profession of that person.

I am asking this question in this scenario that when I send the documents to NVC then what kind of attestation will be valid to attest the birth certificate and also can I send only attested copies of the documents to NVC when they requested?.

Notarized copies are photocopies of the original which have are stamped by the notary, to signify that it is a true copy.

Certified copies are ones that are given by the ORIGINAL ISSUING ENTITY. So if I wanted to get a certified copy of my birth certificate, I'd have to go to the Calcutta Municipal Corporation and get them to issue a copy of my birth certificate against my original, old one that will essentially look like an original copy. Whereas a notarized copy of my birth certificate would just be a photocopy of my BC that would have a notary's attestation. Hope this makes some sense. I'm not sure it does.

NVC wants ORIGINAL or CERTIFIED copies. They are NOT accepting NOTARIZED or ATTESTED copies.

Read the NVC guide for a thorough list of AOS and DS230 documentation.

Don't have a confusion - it's all clear. I could smell your confusion from your prior posts and language, and decided to SHOW YOU the government website portal.

Please don't mix up the words , as well.

Words have meaning.

ALL WORDS have meaning.

When you displace and misplace and mis-use - the confusion is generated.

Stop it.

Thanks in advance !

In the meantime? Please contact your US Citizen person, let him or her know that you will have a document problem, and that you need more monies to generate the proper documents back in Pakistan.

I wish you well.

Hi and thanks a lot of your very very useful post against my query now I have one final question to ask you about the same issue can I send Certified Copy of my Birth Certificate to NVC in USA or I have to submit Original copy also along with Certified copy?.

So I come to conclusion from your post that I have to visit the Municipal Corporation who issued my birth certificate in the first place and asked them to make me another copy of the birth certificate so I can use it as a Certified copy of the birth certificate. Now both original which were issued earlier and now new one will looks like the same with no difference as my birth certificate details were hand written by a person so this time if there is another person whose hand writing might be different does this create any doubts or it's gonna be ok because that's how it goes in our area of town village in Pakistan.

All the birth certificates details are hand written on printed paper with alloted space for specific fields columns like Father name Mother Name etc...

Yes, you can send in your certified copy to NVC. Honestly, I don't know what certified copies look like, I'm guessing similar to the original maybe with a stamp or something that says it is a certified copy but it is NOT a photocopy with a notary's attestation. I just explained what I understood. I sent in my originals and are counting on getting them back at the interview.

Good luck.
