(2007-2010)

1. USA-man meets non-USA woman online in 2007.

2. Man and woman converse via email.

3. Man and woman discover they have a lot in common and a romantic relationship begins.

-- they are the same age and both are divorced with children --

4. Man and woman conversations get more intense in 2008.

5. Man asks woman to be his girlfriend and woman accepts, wanting to be the only one they are "dating.".

6. Intense conversation continues, now over many months.

7. Man asks woman to start video calls and woman accepts.

8. Video calls reinforce their intensity.

9. Plans are made to meet as man decides to come to the non-USA country.

10. Problems happen on the man's side as ex-wife gets the USA government to restrict travel unless $$ is escrowed.

11. With $$ escrowed, the man lands in the non-USA country.

12. The woman meets the man at the airport and together they happily spend more than a month together every day.

13. They are convinced the relationship is worth pursuing and they become engaged.

14. Man flies back to the USA to file the petition.

15. Worldwide depression begins and man's business is ruined.

16. Man and woman decide to wait to file until things get better.

17. Worldwide depression gets even more worse.

18. Man and woman continue to video talk every day in wait.

19. Finally the K-1 is filed after the man sells a company he owns in 2009.

20. Man and woman work furiously to get everything together.

21. NOA1, NOA2, NOA3 all happen rapidly, within a few months. Everything is approved.

22. Legal challenges then erupt in the woman's family (ex-husband dies and the will leaving everything to her daughter is fought by his family) so the NOA4/Interview has to be delayed.

23. Man and woman continue to talk every day in wait as man asks for and is granted interview delay.

24. Legal challenges continue in the woman's family and both the man and woman know they must wait for the benefit of the daughter.

25. The ex-husband's family orders a hit, carried out, on the woman and daughter leaving them hospitalized.

26. Television in the non-USA country carries the news and the legal challenges intensify.

27. The man asks for and is granted interview delay again

28. Man's company sale falls through completely in 2010.

29. Faced with economic and legal tragedy, the man and woman decide to cancel the K-1 application and try again, maybe, later.

30. The USA accepts the cancellation and the man and woman, and children, are crushed.

very sad. i had a similar but not as harsh path with the economy and being self employed, promised myself thought that i would not let the economy keep us apart, i did what i had to do to boost my income. anyone thats self employed should know what i m talking about

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
