So, I'm not buying a fridge right now but I always think about those awesome stainless steel ones and wonder what my preference would be.

Side by Side or the French Doors with freezer on the bottom? Or the regular freezer at top fridge with one door below?

I have a side by side in my kitchen and a french door one in the bar in the basement. my biggest complaint about the french door one is there's no freaking room when the drawer is pulled out all the way. we ended up knocking out part of the wall behind the fridge and moving it back further than everything else so there was room to walk if it was open.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I didn't like the freezer on the bottom one I had, it had one drawer in the top and a big hole under it and it was a pain to find anything.

I like the freezer on the top.

I don't like side by sides, it really makes it hard to put wide things in the fridge or freezer, like frozen pizzas.

We have a side by side as well as a separate upright freezer. I don't mind the side by side - prefer it to the freezer being on top or on bottom, but really would like to have a separate fridge and a separate freezer. I always seem to forget what I have in the freezer in the fridge and the other freezer so have ended up getting duplicates thinking I am out :) . We freeze a lot of our garden produce so do need to have the extra freezer space. The freezer on the side by side, though, is too narrow to be the only freezer space we have.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I've had a normal freezer on top and a side-by-side. My mother has a freezer on the bottom kind with a normal fridge top. I hate the freezer on the bottom thing -- it's too hard to find what I'm looking for. The fridges with see-through bins are great. I liked the side-by-side, but admit that the ice maker thing took up a ton of needed space. I understand some models have better ice-maker designs, though. I wouldn't use a side-by-side unless you tend to keep a lot of frozen food (it organizes it better, and there's lots of space).

I myself find the French doors very appealing, due to the space and being able to store wide dishes like desserts or a birthday cake. Looking in stores though the bottom freezes doesn't seem to practical. And the side by side always look so narrow. So I was just wondering since the trend seems to be either one of them as what people are buying these days.

Back in Brasil my family's house had a freezer on top, wide fridge with the vegetable drawer on the bottom (isolated from the fridge). I'd love to have the space to have that in the future but not all kitchens accommodate a separate freezer.

I prefer side by side.. right now we have one with the freezer on top.. I hate it because I have to dig through the freezer to find anything... I had a side by side once and I loved it.. I didn't find it too narrow or anything..

at work they have the one with the freezer on the bottom and I hate it... it is such a pain..
