It's been since November 27th since the Consulate in Manila received our petition and still no packet. Is this normal to wait this long? hmm...

Go take your medical while you are waiting.

You only need the MNL# and the NOA2, passport and 4 pp pictures. Make copies of your Passport.

Go after 12 noon Tuesday-Thursday.

I will have my medical this Wednesday even if I didn't receive the packet as I understand we just have to download the instructions through the Manila Embassy website. Don't worry just schedule your medical so if there are hindrances in between, you still have time to work it out.

I cant remember if I have heard about K1 beneficiaries in the RP getting a packet by mail, I know that my wife (and several others that I asked) didn't receive anything by mail concerning the Visa process. USEM will swear that they sent it out.

You can wait it out and hope it arrives, or:

2 weeks after you get the NVC letter stating that the case was forwarded to USEM, call to set your Fiancee's interview appointment. Most likely they will ask you if you have received anything telling you to set an appointment, just tell them that last time you called you were told to call back after 2 weeks if you didn't get anything in the mail.

USEM will email your Fiancee a confirmation email/letter that she will print out to use to go to SLMEC for her medical, the email will also contain a link to the packet website that she will fill out online and print the needed forms.

Hello Sage!

I arrived in the U.S. on October 27 through the K1 visa without ever receiving any letter from the U.S. Embassy in Manila. Every K1 beneficiary is supposed to receive a letter stating the eligibility of setting an interview date once the Consulate has the papers from the NVC. It's not a packet but a one-page letter saying the beneficiary may call to schedule his/her interview already.

Here are the things that you can do with or without that letter from the Embassy:

1. Take the medical exam at SLMCEC as soon as possible. The NOA2 and NVC letter will suffice. It's walk-in, no appointment necessary.

2. Call the Consulate as soon as possible and say, "I would like to schedule my interview" instead of asking, "Am I now eligible to set an interview?" If the operator would take your request, go for it and schedule your interview. If the operator would say that you are not yet eligible to schedule an interview, call them back every single day. The letter from the Embassy is a sure indication that you are finally eligible to set an interview but you don't have to wait for it because it may never arrive for whatever reason. Like I've said, I didn't receive any letter at all.

Hakuna matata.

God bless us all.

I did schedule the interview for Jan 19th but I never received an NVC letter and she never received a letter from the USEM. They did allow it on the phone but are you sure she doesn't need to bring any documents indicating she is eligible for an interview?
