December filers

many thanks to y'all for helping with the filing of my AOS from F1..

Are there any December filers out there? please put in your experiences as you go... I left so much by following other people's comments and timelines..

i finally mailed out my forms today after 3months of filling the forms and putting together the money... Yay!

I'm a little scared cos i think i didn't add a copy of my marriage certificate to the i-485 but i did add it to the I-130

Do you think it's going to affect me in anyway?

Plus i sent it to the P.O Box, has anyone sent it there? (means you didn't mail it with Fedex or express mail)

Congratulations on having filed!

As for not including a copy of the marriage certificate with the I-485, I don't know if that will affect your case. I have no idea if only one person looks at all your forms because, if that was the case, perhaps it wouldn't really matter. However, if the forms get separated and dealt with by several people I guess that could cause problems. Probably the worst that will happen is that they'll send you an RFE.

Congrats on filing Mofope! Wow I can't believe today is 4 weeks since we filed... November filers are no longer the newbies! I'm sure they'll be many more December filers coming along to join you soon

I dunno if it's absolutely mandatory to send a copy of the marriage cert for the I-485 - I did but mostly to explain my name change. Worst case scenario - that will be a very fast RFE to solve... I believe it will take the length of time for them to mail the RFE letter to you plus the time it takes you to reply - so probably just a week or two. But who knows they amy not need another copy... Fingers crossed for you

As for the PO Box I fed-exed but others on here have used the PO Box. I think RebeccaandPhil did... I'm sure it will be fine

I'm looking right now at the instructions for I-485 and it doesn't mention providing a copy of the marriage certificate. I also looked at the copies I made of my I-485 and I didn't include a marriage certificate either! I haven't received an RFE, so it looks like you're going to be fine!

It must be a relief to have finally sent off the forms. Alot of persons here have used the Postal box address, so that's no problem at all... infact all USPS mails go thru the P.O.Box (with exception of express deliveries)

Time flies soooo fast! I still remember the day I filled the applications... =) for your marriage certificate, unless you used your husband's surname on the forms, I guess you really need to submit one..

No i didn't use my husband's name on the forms.. so i guess i'm in the clear..

i'm still nervous though... i don't think i'll calm down until i get the NOAs, since that way i'll be sure i'm not getting any RFEs

Actually, unfortunately you can get RFEs at any point during the process, before the bio, after the bio, before the interview. Hopefully you don't get any...but I just wanted to clarify for you

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-485instr.pdf 15.B. says that if you are adjusting status from K1, "attach a copy of the fiance petition approval notice, a copy of your marriage certificate, and your form 1-94.

You will likely get an RFE for leaving it out, but it's not the end of the world.
