Hi Guys,

I haven't given anyone our story. I've been a casual browser, and have wish many people luck. Well hopefully this will help someone.

Ha and were introduced on 04/17/2008. Met on 12/11/2008 and proposed sadly over the phone 03/20/2009 (I made up for it 11/22/09).

We talked about having a Dam Hoi but decided not too, since my parents aren't able to attend among other reasons.

So we went on with the interview, knowing it will be diffucult, printing all the evidence we had. The consulate general did not look at any of our evidence that we provided and only requested that bring the timeline. Ha didn't realize that she already had the timeline with her, so we went back to the consulate (turned around in the taxi..) and talked to the interviewer. She was nice and told Ha that just have be get a new notarized timeline and more likely than not it will be ok.

We showed up at 6:30, interview time 9:30. She didn't get out until 11:00 but was interviewed for all of 5 minutes.

Asked basic questions such as:

How did you two meet?

Where does your finance live?

When did your finance enter the U.S?

Where are your finance hobbies?

Did you have an engagement party?

Are you going to have a wedding?

When are you going to have a wedding?

How many people are going to attend?

Who is all attending the wedding?

Are you going to have a honey moon and for how long?

Where is the honey moon?

What company does your fiance work for?

What is your finance's supervisor's name? <-- Really??!?

All in all Ha said that the people she interacted with were very nice. However, she can over hear other people's interviews and they were so much more tough. Request for evidence and all.

So, now I'm just here spending time with Ha and her family that way we can gather more dates for our timeline in detail.

Advises are most welcomed!

Thanks guys!

I'll have a timeline to follow soon.

Thanks! We feel a lot better a day after. I will most definitely enjoy my time with Ha. She answered all the questions correctly. I'm going to visit her family for a few days and have pictures as well.

I am curious though, she is suppose to submit the timeline on 12/23/2009, the blue slip doesn't say anything about another interview or repayment prior to 12/23. Does anyone have any ideas? Is she suppose to go through another interview? According to the blue slip, we can just mail the requested evidence or drop it at the window.

Thanks!

Well we had a situation in the London consulate that we needed additional items(for us it was a police clearance thing) so they gave us the blue slip, told us to mail it in when we get it-they probably have a special courier like London does. So you mail it and wait for your visa whenever they decide too look at your stuff. Its ####### and its frusterating.

The blue slip probably says they won't review it at the time it's submitted, but some people have said they submitted their evidence in response to a blue slip and got a response back before they left the consulate. That would seem to argue in favor of submitting the evidence in person. I guess it would depend on whether they've already made up their minds about what the next decision will be before you submit the timeline.

If the blue slip contains the statement "If you have any other evidence to present..." then I would suggest you use this opportunity to present more than just a timeline. They obviously have some doubts about the relationship.

The blue slip doesn't say anything about submitting any more evidence. I'll more than likely tell Ha to bring everything just in case, but when she came back and talked to the interviewer on her break, she stated the timeline is evidence that is required. The interviewer looked at our current timeline and said this is a good start and suggested that we put more detail if we could. Again she was really nice about the entire process, so I'm optimistic, but not careless.

Here is what is stated on the blue slip:

"*PETITIONER: In a sworn, notarized statement, please provide a detailed chronology (timeline) of your relationship. Please explain clearly when and how you first met, how you were introduced and when you began corresponding with each other, when you felt your relationship became serious, date and circumstances of marriage proposal (location, time, place situation, setting, etc..). Dis spouse or fiance(e) propose in person or by phone? Where were you when he or she proposed (give exact location)? Did you accept immediately or ask for time to think about it? If he or she did not officially propose, when did you first discuss marriage? How many trips did you make to Vietnam to visit your spouse or fiance(e)? How many times have you seen him or her int total? How long did you stay each visit? Please give as many details as possible."

"R-2: YOUR APPOINTMENT DATE FOR RESUBMISSIONS OF REQUESTED DOCUMENTS IS 23/12/2009 (day-month-year), 13:00-14:00, Window B, Immigrant Visa Unit (entry at 12:30). For resubmissions at any other time, resubmissions may be made by mail or dropped off at Window B, from 13:00 - 14:00 any working day. The resubmissions will be reviewed later. No receipt will be given. If you do not submit ALL of the requested items at the same time, processing delays will result. Consular officers will not make a decision on your case until all of the items we requested are submitted. If you are unable to obtain a requested item, please submit a written explanation. Please label and itemize all materials submitted."

"WARNING: IF YOU FAIL TO TAKE THE ACTION REQUESTED OR FAIL TO PRESENT ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE SUFFICIENT TO OVERCOME YOUR VISA DENIAL UNDER SECTION 221(g) OF THE IMMIGRATION AND NATIONALITY ACT WITHIN ONE YEAR OF THE DATE OF YOUR INTERVIEW, SECTION 203(g) OF THE ACT REQUIRES THAT YOUR APPLICATION BE CANCELLED."

Like Jim said, if you have any other evidences like pictures, trips taken together..etc you may have after the interview that you feel will help, then try to turn it in at the submission date on 12/23/09. Most likely and in most cases I heard, including mine, Ha will not have to be interviewed again at resubmission. But be prepared just in case..

You can also turn it in early at the Window. Most of the time they will only accept the required docs. And if you don't have all the required docs, they will advise you to wait for the resubmission date or come back when all the docs are ready. Since you only have the timeline item, it is up to you to go the Window or wait until 12/23. Enjoy your time in VN...

First, Happy Thanksgiving to all! Second, I hope that all is with their loved ones.

I do have the timeline and much more evidence since my arrival. However, I think it would be wise to do a more detailed timeline when I get back to the states and turn in the updated timeline with any more evidence we have. Does anyone know if there is another fee of any sort when submitting the documents?

Thank you again to everyone that has given suggestions and advices. Updates to come.

Who introduced you to each other?

I was introduced to Ha by my cousin. Ha is one of her best friends. My aunt and cousin are both flying out north to visit her family along with my uncle from the north as well. We will see what we can do about the Dam Hoi. It's a bit difficult since my parents have a difficult time getting time off in the U.S.

Also, if you didn't already submit the timeline,, submit a list of all her relatives that live in the US, if you haven't already, even if they are aunts, uncles or cousins and where they live. We provided contact info for the relatives as well.

If she has no relatives, then don't worry about it.

Nope no relatives in USA. I provided more detail and especially on my second visit. Seeing everyone with PINK after us is really making us think that we're SOL without the dam hoi. I might just have to figure something out. We'll see. Thanks again for everyone's helped and posts and most importantly congratulations to all and good luck to those who are still awaiting PINK!

We had an informal get together much like WraTran did, but I was affraid it would not be enough since we didnt have many pics of it, only a couple.. so we went ahead and had an official Dam Hoi.but not a huge one.. I am glad we did, because I have no doubt I am an accepted part of the family by everyone in the entire family after all we went through together that day, some elders had reservations after thier interaction with the US so long ago... I may have spent a grand or so, but it was priceless to us.. we are actually closer as a couple having gone through it together...

I dont think you guys are SOL.. they are just making you jump a little higher W/O it..
