Thanks for starting this thread EOTR, so happy u & yr SO made up, I was so happy to hear it I almost got a tear, I guess its not the good times that makes our relationships strong but how we manage the bad times. so glad yr back on track. I knew after all u two have been thru' it wouldn't really be the end. ;)

As for Aos, St louis? how long did it take to get yr marriage cert? & do u need yr marriage cert to apply? its almost been a month since our wedding & we still haven't recieved it. getting concerned now.

I was going to apply for travel but u have to know the dates u are going to travel & i never know what i'm doin tomorrow let alone in a month or two. & yes deffinatly applying for work. my other half loves looking after me but as soon as i can pitch in with money matters i'll feel better.

the only prob I had on the forms was, what my alien number is (the one on yr NOA2) but i just followed the vj guides & that helped oh & anyone filling out I-765 for work on Q 16 make sure u put ©(9)( ), other wise it'll expire when yr K-1 expires.

The other question I wasn't too sure on was, what my K-1 visa number is, there is two numbers on it. & after reading lots of posts they all seems to agree, it's the red number on yr K-1.

Hope this saves everyone a bit of time. :D good luck xx

It took us exactly 2 weeks to get our marriage certificate. We got married in the city hall, and they told us to come back in 2 weeks and marriage certificate should be ready. They also gave us a form to fill to request a marriage certificate by mail, but we decided that doing it in person would be faster. When we came back to city hall exactly two weeks after we got married there, the marriage certificate was ready. We bought two certified copies, and sent one with our AOS.

I hope you get your certificate soon. I don't know how it works in other places... did you request your certificate or they told you it will just arrive in mail?

We applied for work authorization with AOS, but we did not apply for travel.

Yeah i guess thats why its taking so long, we had a celebrant in the park & then posted our marriage reg in & also posted the request for the cert. so that takes more time. Guess I should have done in person. we called yesterday & they said it'll take another 7 days, at least I know its coming.

we requested 2 copies as well, do u have to send an original copy of yr cert or will a copy do?

thanks for the info :)

The instructions for I-485 say "a copy of your marriage certificate" (I understand it means just a copy), and people on VJ seem to send either copy or a certified copy. We decided to send a certified copy since it did not cost much and it felt safer.
