November 2009 K1 Filers, VSC

We just filed our I-129F last week at the Vermont Service Center and I got the NOA1 hard copy yesterday, very exciting!

Just wondering if any other November filers have a wedding date in mind? We are planning ours for August 2010, hoping that's enough time...

You should be okay..but there is no sure way of knowing...It took 4 months for our petition to be approved and we are headed into month 2 since getting our NOA2 and we still do not have an interview date. You have given yourself a good cushion but at the same time, there is no way to know what delays will come up in this process. If it were me, I would not book any tickets or put any large deposits down because you just never know. I never thought it would take this long just to get an interview...We still have not planned a date yet and we are getting close to the end...

Getting a little worried, we filed on Nov 3 confirmation received that it arrived at VSC at 2.05pm Nov 5, dont' have NOA1 yet, can't check to see if cashed as it was a money order. People who filed after us are receiving their NOA's in the mail. Do you think we should call VSC?

Our NOA1 was dated the same day they received it so over a week seems long. I wouldn't worry too much but it's probably worth calling to check on it.

We are filing our paperwork on Monday, arrrrrgggh!!! (we did all the papers while I was over on my last visit and post-dated everything to the 14th November for timing's sake!)

We've already booked the wedding though, for Nov 27th next year. We've obviously got a lot more leeway than the dates you are looking at, but find somewhere that has a good postponement policy. Almost everywhere we spoke to were willing to be flexible and if they weren't, we went elsewhere. The place we've booked with allow us to postpone for up to a year without losing our deposit, so lots of leeway

Hey Miss Jess, Wow that's great that your wedding venue is so felixible! Your date is about a year away so it should be safe I would think. Just wondering, what's your plan if you get a visa sooner than excpected? Would you wait to come over untill 90 days before the November date or move the date up?

Oh and good luck with getting your packet out on Monday! I'll be hoping for a quick NOA1 for you guys.

Well...we'll play that one by ear I think. I think it's easier to make things go slower than make things go faster...once our application gets to the VSC we have 4 months within which to have the visa issued, so we can delay the interview or the medical or whatever to make sure that it falls within our timeline

I'm aiming to go out there beginning of November i.e. right before the wedding, so for that to happen will have to have the visa issued no earlier than May. If it comes a little earlier, guess I'll have to head out a little earlier, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it

Yeah, sounds like a good plan. And you seem to have just the right attitude about this whole process, flexible! That's something I definitely need to develop , just too much of a planner for all this unkown I guess!
