After petition leaves NVC

Hello everyone

i've searched through the forums for an answer, but no luck (maybe cos it's Monday and my brain is still warming up)

Anyhoo, The NVC told me my case was sent to Sydney last week and I have been tracking a package that was delivered to Sydney Consulate this morning. Though I am not 100% sure it's ours, I am 100% hoping it is.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to find out if it was in fact our petition? I have read you can call the department of state, but would it be too early to do that right now?

Thanks for your help!

Hope you all have a great week

It usually takes a couple of days for it to get opened and entered in an embassy's computer. Call DOS ( not NVC) in a couple of days and ask if the case is in the consulates system yet . you have to call normal working hours M-F to speak to a live person.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Oh thanks for the heads up! I have been tracking the 4lb package because it seemed around the right date from when the NVC told me it was sent, but the more there are the better our chances! Good Luck to you too

How did you track you petition? I have tried to obtain a DHL tracking number but they won't give it. Please help

Once you have spoken to the NVC and found out that your petition has been sent, go to the DHL website and go to TRACK BY REFERENCE http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef

type in the following reference based on the date the NVC told you they sent the package EXP XX XXX 2009A. So if it was sent out on september 22 it would look like so: EXP 22 SEP 2009A - try the dates a few days around the time they told you it was sent as it might not be on the exact date they supplied.

A list of all the packages sent from the NVC with that reference should appear. Scroll through and find your country :)

Hope this helps!

Just a note: NVC also uses the reference 'CORRESPONDENCE' on some of their packages. No one around here seems to know if there's any difference between the 'CORRESPONDENCE' reference packages and the 'EXP DD MON YYYYA' reference packages.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

If they told you it was sent on the 5th, chances are it was not picked up until the 6th. Try using that date instead. Good luck!
