Chris Broughton, the man who brought an AR-15 rifle and a handgun to an Arizona Obama rally earlier this month, says he "concurs" with his fundamentalist pastor's prayer for President Obama "to die and go to hell."

In an interview with ABC 15 outside the storefront Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Broughton said: "I concur, I think we'd be better off if God would send [Obama] where he's going now instead of later. [Obama] is destroying our country."

And when a reporter followed up with, "you're not advocating violence against the president?" Broughton, who has previously said his weapons are for defense, says "I'm not going to answer that question directly."

If the FBI take people into questioning for joking about Presidential assassination in a bar or at a gym, I'd assume they'd take it rather more seriously if you actually turn up at public events with pistols and rifles.

Perhaps there's some reverse psychology at work here.... maybe Lee Harvey Oswald would have gotten away with it if he wore a T-Shirt that said "Burn in Hell, Kennedy"

To be fair - they've done it for decades (Steve McQueen was famously on an FBI watchlist) and I don't think he had it in for the (then) President.

It is ironic that praying for the demise of someone is a threat even you don't believe in a deity.

Oswald was very public about his politics and was interviewed prior to JFK's shooting. He didn't say he wanted to kill JFK but he didn't like his policy towards Cuba.
